Model store in liquidation - WARNING

I recently placed anorder with JMB Import SARL trading as
Hobby Max Eurl
2 Avenue Foch
94100 Saint Maur des Fossés
Tél.: 01 48 83 45 49

The order was placed in September and I received an e-mail confirming receipt. My money was taken and I heard nothing more. I had a cousin in France call them and he informs me that they went into liquidation around April 2012.

This is their website, DO NOT USE IT, you won't receive anything!

Thanks for the heads up. I guess anyone can leave their site out there fishing for cash. Theres no way of telling if theyre still really there or not.

One good way to tell if a store site is still active is to email them before you order.  If they don't reply, don't order.

Thanks for the heads up my old friend. Sadly these things like this happen on occasion. Peter's advise is sound anytime but especially if you're ordering from overseas. Always trust but varify.

Hi Ian

If you contact your credit card company and explain the exact circumstances they should be able to reverse the charge on your card under the "Non-delivery of services" clause of the credit card merchant agreement with the no longer existing model company. If they still have the ability to process the charge from the model shop they also have he ability to reverse it.
From my previous life working in retail I know that all of the power in these cases lies with the credit card company and the card holder, not the merchant!

The Consumer Credit Act gives you some protection - the credit card company is liable if you don't receive the goods, so contact them & they will refund you.

Same for a Visa debit card.
