Hello from New Hampshire, USA
« on: November 08, 2012, 02:52:40 AM »
I've just joined this week, on the advice of an accomplished WWI modeler.  My usual modeling genres are real space, aviation and nuclear submarines.  I've also been a regular (well, more regular last year than this) contributor to Airfix Model World since they started.

I've not built a WWI kite since the 1/28 Revell kits oh, maybe 40 years ago, but the new WNW Fokker Eindeckers have grabbed me, so I'm ready to take another stab at it.  Windsock's Eindecker issue and Compendium 2 are already on the way, and I'll be ordering one of the WNW kits next week (after I decide which one!).  I can see I've got a lot of catching up to do, to get to the point where you folks are!  Both the forum and website will be invaluable for learning the ins and outs of WWI modeling.

I also have Encore's Fokker F.1 in the stash.

Welcome aboard Peter!  Many of us here are like you---been away from modeling WWI aircraft for many years and just getting back.  Don't be intimidated.  You will pick it up again quickly!  ;)  There is so  much you can learn here quickly, and the members will help, educvate and inspire.  The build reviews and Under Construction projects, along with the many Build Reviews by Des on the main sire, will certainly help you along.  The WNW kits are wonderful.  Enjoy!

Regards,

Hello Peter and welcome to the forum, it is so nice to see you here. You will find that the new WnW kits are far better than what you built 40 years ago, I'm sure you will slip back into WW1 aircraft modeling with no problems at all and with so many talented and experienced modelers on our forum you will have access to a wealth of knowledge.

Welcome aboard, Peter!  As Bob said, many of us have recently returned to the hobby after a long hiatus.  With this forum at our disposal, the learning curve is really quite short.  I look forward to your projects.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!  I've taken the plunge and ordered the WNW Eindecker early version, and am now anxiously awaiting its arrival  ;D

Let's see... now I need some Bob's Buckles, HGW seat belts, monofilament, oil paints for the wood... this is going to be fun!

Incidentally, I'm not receiving emails when this thread has a reply.  I've checked my settings, and I'm set to get them.  Can anyone suggest a solution?  Other discussion groups work fine.

Thanks, Herr von Buckle.  I had already done that, but without result.  However, your reply did generate an email, so apparently whatever was wrong is okay now.
