Siemens-Schuckert D.III
I can't believe it - no thread of the famous Siemens-Schuckert D.III yet?
So I start it with my recently finished model.
This is, what Wikipedia tells us about the original single seat fighter (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siemens-Schuckert_D.III).
As far as I know there are some kits of this type available:
The old Eduard kit in 1/48 (the first model of that company? Order number 8001)
- the new 1/48 Eduard kit from 2014,
- a Flashback kit 1/48
- a Roden kit in 1/32
and some more in 1/72 Toyo, Pegasus, Eastern Express, CMR ...
Now the pictures of my Siemens-Schuckert D.III in 1/48:

She's absolutely gorgeous, Frank! It's really hard to pull off a solid black airframe effectively, but you've done it. Very smooth. I love it!

Spectacular beginning to a new thread on this subject. Done masterfully Frank.

Thought I'd add mine from two years ago. 1:32 Scale from Roden, Pheon Decals, hand carved prop and Aviattic's resin engine on the side. An excellent Kit with just a few minor corrections required.

Lance, that's a nice aircraft!
And two things I noticed:
- spare engine :D (that is somehow a good idea. I thought about a display of the different rotary types)
- The wooden socket of the V-struts! You found that solution three years ago - me only after having trouble with the decals there.
And Juan and Bud: Thank you for your words about my work!
Cheers,

Frank and Lance,
Both of your Models are stunners. What has been done in 1/48th scale with the Eduard kit by Frank is incredible. What Has been accomplished by Lance with the Roden kit is equally incredible.

I should have included that I used the Bren Gun 1:32 Scale Photo Etch Set for mine, an outstanding product in my experience. The lower fuselage cowling with the vents make it worthwhile alone!

Beautiful, Petrov! (And Pheon Decals really offer a beautiful set of options, don't they?!)
-
Gorgeous work Patrick! Seeing this really tempts me to pick one up!

Thx rhwinter/RAGIII!
Though I have a number of WNW kits finished, for some reason this Roden SSDIII remains my favorite build.
I have another in the stash along with a convo kit to make it an early version that I hope to tackle one day....

That is really lovely work. Like you this Kit is one of my favorites and I plan to do another soon, probably in one of the black schemes like this. Thanks for adding this to the Thread, a joy to view!
Cheers,

Hi all,
Here's the completed Siemens Schuckert D.III (Serial No. 834 to 8359/17) as flown by Ltn. Joachim von Ziegesar when serving with Jasta 15 during May, 1918.
As usual a fully detailed build log, in PDF format, is available to download from my web site (link below),

I figured it was time to Post this one here. Roden SSW DIII 1/32nd scale. Ernst Udet: Jasta 4. Probably only flown once or twice and not in combat.
