hi all!
After a big hiatus of time that was dedicated to, ehm, some sci-fi projects an even a Tiger I tank (poor me! I’ve been seduced by the dark side...) I am back with a wwI plane.
And what a plane! it is a gorgeuous package, and I want to thank CSM for the great work they are doing, can’t wait to see the Nieuport.... it willl be amazing!
Anyway, I’ll show some picture soon, but first I have to ask you a question: I am going to install the radio equipment, but I suppose there should be some wiring connecting the various gears, but I found nothing both on the instructions and here on the site (useless to search the net: if it is WWI related or it is here or it is nowere!).
Do you happen to have some reference of it?
Thank you,
ciao

Ciao Edo,
I can't wait to see your WIP, I take a seat in the first row.

Hi all!
Ciao Antonio!
I started building the Cauldron, it is a really good model, well engineerd and with wonderful deatils! The rigging is really frightening, but forunately I am not there yet!!
So, here is the cockpit: I used spare Eduards decals for the dials, which are fine in my opinion, while I am not convinced with the brass colour I used as it seems to me too dark and it fades with the background...

In the meanwhile, I worked on the floaters

and on the propellers, which I painted tje "Bertl way"

This is all for now, I hope you'll like it!!

Nice start, I'm waiting for the next steps.

Great start, I like the hydro version better and really like your floats.
-
That is an excellent start. The interior details are really good, and the floats even better!. Don't worry about the rigging - I scratch built one of these in 1/72 and the rigging was not particularly difficult - it just took a lot of time.

Outstanding start. Love the props and interior work.

thank you for the incouragement! :)
wow! rig one of these in 1:72.... it is creazy!
I have to admit that I also hate to work with PE. and I hate it as I don’t really know how to do it properly...
first question: how do you cut it free from the fret? I use a cutter but even if I try to be careful, always remains a little ‘dirt’... in bigger pieces it is easy to sand it flush, but on smaller pieces?
second: some pieces has to be bent. but I don’t know on which side.... the side where there is a little mark or the opposite?
i know, these are very basic questions, maybe answered hundreds of times, but i never figured out myself and i am too lazy to search the forum.... ;)
thank you

as a rule, the bend line is on the inside. If you are using a hold-and-fold or something simalar, that bend line gives you the exact spot where to clamp in down. But you can use a good pair of pliers for most parts, as long as it has flat surfaces so you don't damage the part.
as for cutting, I use most of the time a exacto knife with a çhisel blade, that gives me the option to cut realy close to attachment point.
I cut it on a piece of glas but you could use a tile or something, as long as it is very hard so you don't distort or bend the part instead of cutting.
I also put a piece of masking tape over most of the part so it doesn't go flying away when you cut it.
-
thank you!
the tape idea is actually very good!
i’m heding to the basement and give it a try right now!
i’ll let you know how it worked!

Hi all,
what started as a work in progress tourned out to be finished model thread... this is due to my laziness and surely is payed by more mistakes and a less accurate model.
Nevertheless it is finished and I like the result.
Sure there are mistakes, as it is a very difficult model and far above my skills to make it justice, I enjoied the build though, and I can't wait to lay my hands on the 1:32 Neuport.

Nicely done.
Is there a tutorial on the 'Bertyl Way' for prop paintwork somewhere?
-
Beautiful, she's really well done.

Great job on a very nice Kit Edo, the rigging is very impressive. The paint work and weathering are perfect, she has that "worn" look that I so much prefer. Nicely done!
Cheers,
Lance

Gorgeous results! I Love the weathering and like Lance said the rigging is impressive!!

Fantastico Edo!!!
I would be the most happy modeler in the world if I made every model of mine in such an "inaccurate" way!!!
:-P
-
Superb Edo, congratulations on finishing this beauty.
-
A real beauty, Edo. The rigging is very impressive and the build and paintjob is done with high accurancy. I just hope, Edgar (CSM) hears my prayers to do it in 1:32nd.
Bye,

Outstanding work Edo!
The rigging in particular is superb. Thanks for sharing this with us.

thank you friends!
your comments are very welcome!
Rigging is actually semplifiend a bit, as i did not study the rigging scheme enough.... particularely in the engine area... you have to look very carefully comparing the pictures on the manual closely as not in all of them the rigging is the same and to get it all correctly you have to “blend” them all together. Actually rigging schemes is a bit a let down, in my opinion, compared to the rest of the building manual.
there used to be an entire forum section dedicated to “Mastro Bertl” way, but i cannot find it.... maybe Dave can help us here....
anyway, Bertl is a master in using colour pencils to paint laminated propellers and I used his method too. not much lamination is showen here as I understand that in French props had a more uniform look....
thank you again for the kind comments and encouragement, much appreciated indeed!

Thanks.
I searched his content for a prop tutorial. I remember it when you said about the water color pencils he used.
His content is good , no pics but lots of links to good stuff.
