Title: Wood Grain Reference
Post by: Ryan on October 16, 2018, 12:20:51 AM
Hello builders,

I have worked at a cabinet shop for several years, I'd like to start a thread on interesting wood grain shots for those who don't have the access to wood that I do.

It's hoped the shots can assist those in hand graining their works or for color reference.

Please enjoy.

I'm not convinced these shots are representative of the fine grained wood used for the thin plywood covering back in the day. It should be much more subtle

Absolutely Jamo, I’m sure some of us like to artistically represent woodgrain.

I may include some exotic woods sometimes, maybe not realistic but may spark an idea for someone.

Here is what wood grain looks like on TVAL's authentic Albatros DVa reproduction

Interesting,I presume various species may have been used by plywood manufacturers, and a variety likewise for framing purposes.I guess particular manufacturers would have had specifications to work to,must look into this some time.
