Hi Guys,
Our latest issues are now posted up on our website at www.windsockdatafilespecials.co.uk
These include WINDSOCK Worldwide 28/5 that carries reviews of all the latest Wingnut kits, plus a detailed build log of the Duellists' Eindecker with 1:32 scale plans of the E.III by Josef Scott. DATAFILE 155 centres on the Italian SPADs. If you are a fan of the VII and XII,and love really exotic colour schemes, then this one has the best of both worlds!
Titles recently out of print include DF21 on the Pfalz D.IIIa and 146, Pfalz D.XII at War. We plan to reprint the latter in 2013, and are working on an all- new book on the D.IIIa, a fully revised take on this classic fighter.
Our next regular issues are due December and include Early Avro 504 biplanes by Colin Owers, our 156th DATAFILE. :)
Cheers,
RayR.

The Italian SPADS datafile sounds yummy.

Great to see Albatros participation in the forum.
I’d be lost without the data file specials.
More information on the Pfalz D.IIIa will be most welcome.

Ray, my order for the Italian SPAD's (and also Albatros D1 & D2 and Nieuport Fighters Vol 1) was placed on Saturday.
What's next in the pipeline? You can tell us- we'll keep the secret..... :-X
Cheers.
Dal.

Thanks Dal,
Planned Datafiles - the Halberstadt CL.II, an all new one ,is under preparation, also the UFAG C.I and Thomas Morse scouts. Alan Toelle is working on the Spad XII as well...
Cheers,
Ray ;)

Excellent, Ray. I'll start saving. Or sell one of the kids. Whatever's easiest.

Hi
What is your best resource for photographs of the Albatros D.V and D.Va? I need colour photographs of the engines (D.III and D.IIIa in particular) and of the innards (cockpit, engine compartment etc).
My resources for WW1 subject is very seriously lacking. All I have is internet collected photographs.
-
Hi Loki
A good way to go for accurate references is to get the Datafile for each aircraft type you want to build.
Cheers

Yep, nothing like a good investment in good books, and the titles from Albatros Pubs is a great start. I'd also recommend the tome published by the Smithsonian on "Stropp".
HTH, YMMV,
Warren

Im not sure if the Stropp book is still available. Check the new Alby's at War books (By the vendor thread we are currently in) - they are very good. I believe there are good photos elsewhere on this site too.

Have a look at these photos of original working Mercedes engines on two Vintage Aviator reproduction Albatros DVa aircraft.

I went looking for the Smithsonian "Stropp" book on-line recently after being told it was no longer available at source. Prices seemed unreasonably high however I'm no expert on working in the world of Amazon etc. If anyone has a lead on a reasonable source please share!
Cheers,
Lance

I have the book and it is very good but it is more of a text on the type. There are photos but better "visual "references are available.

Thanks Steve, I feel better about having missed it now. It's pretty hard to beat the likes of Albatros Pubs and the stuff that Jamo feeds us...............another great benefit of this little "club" in the latter case.
Cheers,
Lance :)
