Hi -
I got introduced to airplanes when my dad got a Piper Cub in the 1950's when I was maybe 8 or 10. He had just gotten the hunting concession on a large ranch and jumped at the opportunity to get an airplane which he could use to patrol the property for poachers.
I was not long before I was thoroughly hooked on WWI airplanes, but I headed instead into model trains and built many RR models over the years, progressing from HO scale to 1:20 scale (plus a couple of ride-on size models).
The itch has not gone away, though, and now I have ordered an Albatros D.Va 1/16 scale kit. I've always wanted to build a "skeleton" model so one can see inside, including the working rigging to the control surfaces. My hands are getting shaky these days, so I figured I better do it while I still can (I hope).
This site is an incredible resource (in the highest tradition of the internet), and I look forward to learning and maybe sharing.
