Hello,
very nice kit, I am working on it, too.
Your work looks great up to now. The worn wood effect on the floor is done superb! That is exactly my cup of tea, as I love worn and weathered planes.
Bye,
Manni

Super Kamil
-
Very nice start, interior looking really good so far.
-
Outstanding start, love the woodwork and weathering. Looking forward to your progress.
-
I too prefer a worn and used look and your results here are spectacular! That worn wood is "top drawer", lovely work! 8) 8) 8)
Cheers,
Lance
-
I'm less inclined to the worn look (to each their own). But what you are doing looks really great!!!
Cheers
Alistair
-
Kamil, you DO know what I think about your work already ;) Two thumbs up mate!
-
Wow! Thanks for those kind words! I'm still working to make cockpit more colorful and i'm trying to breathe life into it ::)
Gun ring is under construction. I thought that it was from steel but it was wooden.

I hope so! Maybe in Bytom 2018? My target for this model is Moson Model Show. For the first time my plan is vignette.
BTW. Cockpit is done :) Gallery below. I have a question to the experts. W.29 has white canvas stripes on ribs or not? Archive photos are fooling me. This looks like dark:

...and this like white:

Hi Kamil,
Here's an extract from my build log being written for my build of the W.29:
Wing rib tapes.
Reference:
Windsock Data File No.55 - Brandenburg W.29 by Peter M Grosz.
Fabric covered surfaces, particularly those on the wings and tailplane, were either applied from a continuous bolt of cloth or applied in sections.
Care was taken to match the separate fabric sections.
To strengthen the joins of fabric, ‘rib tapes’ of linen were stitched and/or glued over the rib joins.
These tapes could be either of the same colour or of a contrasting colour, including hexagonal and lozenge patterns.
Photographs of that period are generally of a poor quality and make it difficult to make out such things as rib tapes.
Rib tapes were either coloured blue (over the lighter coloured fabric) or pink (over the darker coloured fabric). Rib tapes were also cut from the same bolts of fabric.

Here's more information:
When researching the colour schemes and finish of the Hansa-Brandenburg W.29 I found that as usual, there are different interpretations available. The official standards laid down during WW1 for the finishes to be applied to aircraft of the German Naval Air Service were dependent on the time of issue.
General Colour Schemes
Order ’B Nr F5952’ dated 28th March 1917:
Printed hexagonal fabric (hexagonal grey-brown, grey-blue and grey-violet) was to be applied to all upper surfaces (wing, fuselage, floats, tailplane and elevator). All side surfaces (fuselage, floats, rudder, tail fin and struts) were to be painted Grey-Blue. The underside surfaces to be a light Grey colour, but the underside surfaces of the wing (and presumably tail plane) were to be left as Clear Doped Linen (CDL). The painted surfaces were to be of a matt (flat) finish.
Later orders dated April 1918:
Printed hexagonal fabric (hexagonal grey-violet) was to be applied to all upper surfaces (wing, fuselage, floats, tailplane and elevator). All side surfaces (fuselage, floats, rudder, tail fin and struts) were to be painted Grey-Blue. The underside surfaces to be a light Blue or left as Clear Doped Linen (CDL). The painted surfaces were to be of a matt (flat) finish. There were caveats that stated for the duration of the war, aircraft surfaces (not those fabric covered) could be
painted with acid free tar based varnish. Additionally all naval G- and R– types should either be painted or have printed fabric applied, both of which should be three colour hexagonal.
References:
Osprey Aircraft of the Aces - Naval Aces of World War 1 (Part 2) by Jon Guttman:
The colour profiles shown for this aircraft have all upper surfaces (except the engine/cockpit areas) and including the two floats, in three colour hexagonal, undersides of the wing,
fuselage, tailplane and elevator as CDL and white on the rudder/fin. All side surfaces, including the two floats as being Grey-Blue.
Windsock Data File No.55 - Brandenburg W.29 by Peter M Grosz:
The colour profiles shown for this aircraft, particularly W.29 No.2532, appear to have all upper surfaces (except the engine/cockpit areas) and including the two floats, in three colour hexagonal, undersides of the wing and tailplane as CDL and white on the rudder/fin. All side surfaces as being Grey-Blue.
Fabric application.
Generally the patterned fabric was applied to the various surfaces as follows:
Wings - Length of the bolt of fabric applied chord wise (leading edge to trailing edge).
Ailerons and elevator - Length of the bolt of fabric applied span wise (left to right).
Tailplane - Length of the bolt of fabric applied span wise (left to right) although the Wingnut
decals have it as for the wings (chord wise).
Fuselage - Length of the bolt of fabric applied chord wise (front to rear).

Thanks!
I've spent last 2 months making engine. I made several element from scratch. I also used Taurus Models spark plugs and springs. I'm satisfied with final effect but I know that it could be better. What do you think?

Magnificent work on the engine, truly outstanding. This is destined to be a real winner, the detailing is in it's own league!

Hi Kamil,
Having completed my model, I know just how much effort and patience is needed to produce such an engine as you have.
Congratulations
Mike
-
This is beyond my skill level, splendid work.

Sorry to be late to the party but......well what do I write! This is so realistic that I thought that I was looking at photographs of a modern replica being built! It was the tweezers which made me realise that it is a model!!
Brilliant work.
Stephen.

Gorgeous Engine!

Stunning work - a beautiful engine. My only comment being that those exhaust pipes could be reamed out a little further? A tiny detail in a beautiful piece of modelling.
Cheers

Your attention to detail is amazing, excellent work I'm watching with great interest.

Thanks everyone for opinions!

Sure... As Wingnut, this model is quite demanding :)

;D

You're right. They are a little too thick. I grinded it but not enough. I'll try to improve it but it'll very hard, becouse this pipes are delicate.
Hansa's interior is closed now. I'm working with putty and I'm preparing to painting wings and tailplane. Special thanks to sandbagger for references again!

Slow progress... I had a problem with filling the fuselage but it's close to be done.

If you see sth wrong please tell me before it will be to late :D

Hi Kamil,
It's really starting to come together now.
I had the same areas that needed filling.
If you are not sure about the exhaust pipes on the engine, you could replace them with micro-tube, as I did.
How I did this is detailed on page 40 of the W.29 build log on my web site (Gallery 2) (site link below) - click the PDF icon to download it.
Maybe the exhaust pipes could be less silver in colour?

Nice progress, Kamil.
As for the shake-and-bake character, no kits are like this. WNW ones are close to it but, still, not exactly so. I have already built 22 kits of their making, currently working on the 23rd one, and every single one of them required some puttying, sanding, polishing, removal of form ejector push marks, cleaning some flash or mould-halves joints marks... Even the nicest bits from WNW kits require some preparation. And it is good. If you want shake-and-bake - go for Lego bricks :-)
-
Cool, a night fighter W.29. ;D ;D ;D All kidding aside, looking great. Your work will pay off in large dividends shortly.

Hi Mike!
I saw your PDF - great guide! I'm very sad that I didn't used metal pipes but for that moment i can't replace them. They are glued with CA and I'm affraid I could damage the details removing the pipes. The same problem is with the colour od the pipes. They must stay as they are.
Nice progress, Kamil.

Thanks Przemek! Of course I have a few Lego kits 8) but... i prefer sth more exacting :D

Hi!
I'm working on CDL in the bottom of Hansas wings. I made "preshading" of the wing structure. Now I'm trying to get the yellowed linen effect.
Any advices before it'll be to late? :)

Hi everyone!
Is Naval Lozenge expert here? :D I'm looking for informations about applying Naval Hex on W.29 wings. Theoretically it should be a printed linen, so it should be applied from the linen rolls but... i can't see any connection lines in the photos.I haven’t found anything about it in lit
Anyone knows sth about it and could help? I’ll be grateful.
-
Ok... so wings are ready to apply Aviattic Naval Lozenge. I also aplied HGW lozenge on my "extra" wing (last pic).
