Title: Wingnuts Sopwith Snipe has sold out
Post by: Dave W on July 24, 2018, 07:12:52 PM
They are going fast now. The Wingnuts Sopwith Snipe ( Early) is listed as Sold Out on the Wingnut Wings website.

The kit was released in January 2013. Maybe it will return in a Duellist boxing with a Fokker D.VII? Just a guess.

luckily, i already got mine and the Pheon Barker decals, but would LOVE a Barker figure...  i'm a bit Barker-obsessed.

Biff is very close to gone according to at least one distributor (Uschi).

according to my 'inventory audit' from last January Biff will go soon, and E.III (late) and the Early Fee is in peril. i have one but i'm nervous about the Fee 'cause i want to do an FE2d also.

Interesting idea Dave. I could be VERY wrong here but I think to date the Duelist have been a "New Release and an OOP", or two "New Kits" So perhaps it is time for WNW to change the game again  8)

Jeff,
I'm pretty sure you have, or have read "William Barker VC The Life, Death & Legend of Canada's Most Decorated War Hero" by Wayne Ralph. It's a great read and a fitting tribute to a great Fighter Pilot. By coincidence I'm presently re-reading it and on the off chance you've missed it I thought I'd mention it here.
Almost 10 years ago I met the author and shared several "social beverages" with him over a memorable evening. He had been the Guest Speaker at a formal Military Dinner I attended and both being retired RCAF Pilots we had no problem finding things to talk about!
The book was originally released by Publisher Doubleday Canada as a plainer version titled simply "Barker VC". The newer well illustrated and slightly amended version was released by John Wiley & Sons Canada Ltd. It is a very fancy version, the initial one is less intimidating to the average bank account.......
Highly recommended and also to our Membership, a classic!
Cheers,
Lance

I will have to make a point of letting my father in law know to get me this book, as he is always looking for books to send me.  Haply, I have both the early and late snipe and the Pheon sheet for Barkers Snipe, which together with Lance, Trackpad, Lindsay Tallon and the irrepressible Chris Johnson, have actually touched the Barker Snipe as it sat in Ottawa.  What a privelege and experience for this "Yank" to have.  I hope that WNW continues to re-release this kis for future generations to enjoy and learn the history of the "Great War."

Would a Barker Snipe/Fokker Duellist issue not require 15 or more Fokkers? 😉

(Could always do Snipe/Rumpler as Barker's first victory that day was Wattenburg's Rumpler before the fokkers appeared in their Fokkers!)

THAT idea would point to a Voss/56 Sqdn(?) boxing; 3 Se5a s and a tripe.
 Glad I have my Snipe(s).

doubt it will include a dreidecker, WNW have been very dismissive of that idea. however, a 56 Squadron? THAT could happen (i hope).

Yes, 3 SE's (or 6) - and a decal sheet for the Roden Tripe!
Bish, bash, bosh- done deal!
S

Can't remember if any were Viper powered, but if so, good reason to add the Wolseley bits 😃
