Here are some photos of my just finished 1/48 Sopwith Pup from the old (1995) Eduard kit, a pretty basic kit. The model needs a lot of corrections to get an accurate replica, is somebody is interested I can post a list.

The model depicts a Whitehead built Pup from 66th Squadron flown by 2Lt. W. A. Pritt during 1917.

I only used some of the main plastic parts scratchbuilding (interior, tail unit, landing gear, cowling, propeller,) and replacing others with aftermarket products like the Vector engine (the exhaust were replaced with a resin copy of the Dragon Le Rhone). The Lewis gun came from a Roden Kit and the Vickers was modified from a Dragon's Spad XIII.

I painted the model with Model Master enamels and for the weathering, I used oils and acrylic Vallejo colors for the washes. All the markings were painted.
Hope you like it!

Claudio,
Excellent looking Pup! That is really a stand-out job!

Fantastic work Claudio!

Beautiful model, very well updated from a really basic kit.
Ciao

Simply gorgeous work! You certainly took an older basic Model and Made it look like a WNW kit ;D

What a beautiful model! Particularly in 1/48th
Great job Claudio

Congratulations on a fantastic build Claudio!, looks bigger than 1/48, a testament to your skills.
-
That is super. The markings are just like transfers and I would never have guessed that they were painted unless you had told us. That looks more like a WNW kit in a larger scale than 1/48.
Stephen.

Thanks, guys. I really appreciate your comments. :D
It certainly took me much more time I expected but I am satisfied with the results.
Here is a photo of the masking process:

I decided to paint the markings because I thought that the blue used for the nose and wheels was (most probably) the same used for the cockades. The matching of the painted blue vs the decal blue was quite difficult to achieve.

Dear me, what a beauty!

Thanks Przemol!

Beautifully done, looks like a larger scale. The paint work is top drawer, congratulations on an absolute gem! 8) 8) 8)

Really great build! Very thoughtful done, so you converted a old kit into a gem.
And I know the effort, because I build that old kit too and showed it here.
Cheers,
Frank

I thought I was looking at a completed Wingnut Pup :o
Excellent work all round.

Just wondering if we get better background for Pup in 1/48 in the near future..? anyone? any help for poor 48 guys?

Thanks! I am glad you like it.
Here is a photo of the Pup with a 1/32 Roden Dr.1 I built years ago...

Thanks Frank, I saw your Pup you did an excellent work with the turnbuckles!

Just scrolling through some of the completed builds and your Pup really catches the eye.
It's a tidy build, the paint and weathering are just screaming "Patina" at the viewer.
It has the appearance of age and it looks used but cared for and not so much that that one thinks of a toddler rolled in mud, sitting in its own filth.
Brilliant!
-
A big Ditto to all the above compliments, well done !!
Ed

Claudio,
Your Pup looks GREAT. The interior work is fantastic. And, that 1/32 Fokker in the comparison picture looks awesome too.
Paul
-
Absolutely perfect, Claudio! One of the finest looking Pups I've seen in any scale. Among the many standout features are your superb under wing shading and the overall satin finish. Truly superb!
Cheers,
Bud

Kalt,
I have to say, the DR.1 is very impressive. The detail, careful finish, and the streaking as well says wonders for your skills .......... beautiful work!

Fantastic!!!
I have the Sopwith triplane from the same thing me period, and it is very basic.
How did you do the details inside the inspection windows on the wings?

How did you do the details inside the inspection windows on the wings?
It was quite simple. I made four cutouts for the control windows. Then, I scratchbuilt a pulley and its support. I made four resin copies of it. I painted and glued them in the wing cutouts. After that, I applied a light coat of an acrylic gloss varnish to protect the paint. With everything dry, I applied a few drops of an epoxy clear resin over the windows. I let it dry for some days and then sanded/polished smooth each window.

Sorry for the delay. I was preparing a post with photos of the building process but sadly, I lost the photos when the memory card of my camera died of unknown reasons... :-\
Anyway, I will use some photos taken with my phone but they are not of good resolution
