Title: Raymond Collishaw's Sopwith Pup
Post by: mrobeson1 on July 12, 2018, 08:34:01 AM
Hello everyone,

I was hoping someone out there would have some information on Collishaw's Sopwith Pup.  I'm trying to build a chronology of his planes, but haven't been able to find much on his time with the 3rd Naval Squadron flying Pups.  So far, I've found just a serial number, N6160, although he shared that plane with Harold Spencer Kerby.  Now, we know that Collishaw was famous for his Black Maria Tripe and Camel, but did the name and paint scheme extend back to his time with Pups?  WNW does include a 3rd Naval Squadron Black Arrow in their kit with the distinctive black nose and tail, but that's from after Collishaw had transferred to 10th Naval Squadron.  And the next serial number, N6161, has a metal cowling and linen tail, which is the one at Duxford.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Osprey Sopwith Pup Aces book (Number 67)  has a Profile of N6160 flown by Collishaw and Kerby. It is a very plain scheme of PC.10 overall with only the roundels and the Serial Number on a white background and of course the rudder stripes. No Squadron or individual letters or symbols at all.
Cheers,
Lance

Well, that's too bad, but good to know. I was hoping his scheme would be closer to the other two planes.  I'll grab that Osprey book though for more info on it.

Thanks for the help Lance
