Here is my rendition of the Albatros Richthofen was flying when he was brought down on July 6th, 1917.
I used the early release from Eduard and made many improvements to the kit. I made a slightly bigger
160 hp Mercedes D III, added the fuel and oil tanks, corrected the landing gear struts, used Barracuda Cast
wheels and some photo-etch from Tom's Modelworks.

This project was a great learning experience for me through the amount of research I did on the Albatros D. V. Also, testing myself with new modeling
techniques. I'd like to thank everyone for their feed back during construction and also the build logs people make. Sharing methods with others are a
great part of this web site. I will need to put my tools down for the next couple of months as my wife and I sell our current home and move to a new place.

As always total agreement from this Amigo! I enjoyed following your build. What you did with this "Original" Eduard DV release is true Modeling!

Nicely done Kevin, the red over-paint with the markings showing through is very effective. Good luck on the move, and don't be "tools down" for too long, I'm looking forward to your next Build once you're settled in.
Cheers,

Many thanks to everyone! I have watched from the sidelines all the great work presented by others and learned a lot.

I will do another of these early Eduard kit in the future, once I get settled in my new digs.
Thanks once again, Kevin

Wow, Kevin! Looks great. I do think the Albatros line is my favorite of the biplanes (I mean sesquiplanes!). Nice treatment of the red over color too. Wood as well!
Neat job.
When do you move? We'll miss you at the Mediterranean Grill! ;)

That is a superb model - the red over the markings on the wings is particularly effective. Really looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Hello Dan. I should be in my new place the firs half of next month. I stopped by the Mediterranean Grill last night. I'm sure I'll be again before I move
so I'll keep an eye out. Have a great summer.

Very well done.

I echo many of the comments above. I find your wood finish and red overpainting both very well executed. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Nice work indeed. A very clean and precise build, well done.
-
Very good detail for 1/48 scale. I think the added details enhanced the results.

Just beautiful. Congratulations!

Once again, I’d like to thank everyone for their interest in my model. I look forward to posting something more in a few months. The shared knowledge found on this forum is a great tribute to Des and his efforts.
Happy Modeling to all!
