This is part of my WNW's build report to be found here:

While working on the cockpit of my Jeannin Stahltaube and adding the intrument placards, I found this humorous message linked to Peter Jacksons side projects ;)

Decal no 38 is a navigators memo to be postitioned on the map board. I used my zoom function of my digicam to get the exact position of the decals. While checking the decal #38 I found this:

The text is partially in german language:
"Hinweise auf Graeben
2 km westlich von Artillerie"
-------------------------------------------------------
"Search Standorte fuer der Herr der Ringe Teil 4" :)
------------------------------------------------------------
"Pick-up ein paar Bier fuer die Jungen"
In translation:
"Hints for ditches
2 km west of artillery"
------------------------------
"Searching for location for Lord of the Rings Part 4"
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Pick-up some beers for the boys"
Well that's humor! Hats off Peter Jackson! :)
Cheers, Dirk

Oh great, now my kit isn’t accurate.
I remember something similar on fuel selection placards for some armoured vehicle, they said if you a reading this you have way too much time on your hands.

Another aspect: I also had some strange, no sense making instructions on decals of German WWII fighters. Maybe kit/decal developers have to face the situation that they have no photos of the original placards and use translation programs for the text they suppose to have been written on the placards...
Cheers, Dirk

Or these computer nerds developing the decals simply are too bored, have too much time and too much drugs...

this is not something to stress over. consider viewing distance/visibility. they could have used greeking (fake text) and gotten away with it.
and, it has amused at least one person (me).
