The gloved hand holding the flechettes is a remarkable display. Thanks for sharing these photos. The photo of the Vickers is very striking as much for the artistic value as the detail.

The broken Nieuport prop with the bent bolts is quite poignant as well. Thanks for sharing.

Messieurs !

At the Swiss Airforce Museum, Dübendorf  (FliegerFlab Museum - check out their website) there are a lot of machine guns shown;
unfortunately the glass of the display cases showed too much reflection from available light and lamps; therefore the frames
did not work out porperly; I tried to remedy this via black&white conversion done with NIK Silver Efex plug-in programme to
Adobe Lightroom 4.2 .
In some cases it did work out.
But to show detail on those dark objects lighting is important which I could not influence.
Hope you like these examples ;  they showed all types of machine guns used on German aeroplanes and two classic British ones.
Furthermore of course Swiss types and WW2 types.
I'm a little disappointed that I couldn't get better frames.

Thanks Gunther for the excellent photos. It is always very difficult to photograph items stored behind glass, light relflection causes all sorts of problems, but what you have shown here are quite good, there is still plenty of detail to be picked out from the photos.

Thank you that you like the frames in spite of the reflexions!

One of the most interesting things about the Vickers' and Spandaus and 08/15s is their clumsiness.
They look heavy and they where heavy.
In the Bavarian Army Museum the shown 08/15 with sled is heavier than 70 kg ; the gun crew literally was not far from an artillery gun crew.
On a biplane this weight had surely to be considered by the designers! at an average weight empty of about 500 kg this counts.
