Title: Airfield Repairs
Post by: Thumbs up on December 22, 2017, 10:24:15 PM
If an aircraft return's with a few bullet holes in it's fabric,no structural damage, did they patch them up with new canvas and dope? Or did they recover the whole Panel????I would appreciate any information on this.

With no structural damage patches were certainly used. There are photos showing patches on many different aircraft types. Some German aircraft even painted roundels over the patches. MvR had a noticeable patch on his red Albatros DIII fuselage near the cross.

Thank's RAGI11.I am building a Libra model's Albatros B11 and would like to add damage details to the wings using cigarette papers to mimic patches.a small detail often over looked by modellers.
