Title: Liberty 400hp V12 engine
Post by: Jamo on December 09, 2017, 07:47:51 PM
This is an original engine restored by The Vintage Aviator Ltd and fitted to their reproduction USAS DH4 aircraft, based at Hood Aerodrome, Masterton, New Zealand. Taken on my Samsung Galaxy S6 mobile phone on a selfie stick for height

This is beautiful restoration work, and clever too.

I can spot tape used where it would be so easy to substitute a cable tie. There are modern hose clips painted black so they don't catch the eye. There are fabric covered ignition wires which I bet have modern cores. Finally, tucked away in the bottom where it is out of sight I think I can see a thoroughly modern alternator instead of a dynamo

Love it!

Richard
