I`ve decided to start the Caudron. The kit contains extra sprues with the floats and beeching trolleys along with trestles. They are great cause IMHO the floatplane looks a little bit peculiar without them on the ground.

Great choice of subjects. I am looking forward to this one!
RAGIII
-
Can't wait to see what you do with this one Filip, it is a great kit and in your very skilled hands it will be a show stopper.
Des.
-
Excellent choice, Filip! I've been thinking about doing one of the Caudrons as my next build and I think you just pushed me over the edge! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Cheers,
Bud
-
Another beauty in your very capable hands Filip. Looking forward to your progress.
-
I'm really looking forward to following and learning from your build on this, Filip. My hands are full at the moment, but there is a Hydravion in the stash and maybe one day ....
best wishes
Nigel

This is going to be one to watch: I had no idea that this aircraft had been fitted with floats until CS produced their kit. A challenge but well within your capabilities - another masterpiece is on the way.
Stephen.

Hello!
I`ve started painting the wood grain bits of the nacelle. I`ve used XF55 as a base and artistic oils varnished with Clear Orange. I think I`ll try to work some more on these parts to get a more refined result.

I`ve also glued the Le Rhône 9C engines. I`ve just added the push-rods and the wires. After seeing the pics I think they require some touch ups.
I`ve tested the Chrome Silver for the first time ;)

Filip,
Great start to what I am sure will be another of your Master Class builds! The wood tones are lovely and the engines look excellent.
RAGIII
-
A super start, Filip. You are so organised and I really like the work you've done on the engines; they're coming up soon for me.
Best wishes
Nigel
-
Great start to what I know will be another one of your master works. Looking forward to following along. I'll be starting mine in a couple months.
Cheers,
Bud
-
An excellent start Filip, I always enjoy following your superb builds and this one won't be any different, love what you did with the engine :) :)
Des.
-
Great start with the wood and engines, looking forward to your outstanding work.
-
Those engines are looking great, I'm sure this will be another stunner. I'm especially looking forward to seeing it on the beaching trolleys.
Ian
-
Nice work, does not scare you to mount so many lines? ;)
-
G.4 again, Filip? Aren't you bored? ;)
But seriously, I am happy to see you work on it again, looking forward to more.

G.4 again, Filip? Aren't you bored? ;)
But seriously, I am happy to see you work on it again, looking forward to more.
As am I Filip. Another of your great builds to follow.
Regards :)
-
Thanks!!! Przemek, I`m not bored - G.4 is one of my 3 favourite aircrafts ever so...
Some cockpit details:
The seatbelts are scratch built.
I`ve used Green Stuff to make the pilot`s seat more comfy ;)
I`ve also replaced the compass. The one OOB is fine but I just like to make some details on my own.
I`ve decided to install the wireless - whether Hydroavions had them or not is unclear but I think it`s a great detail. Also my logic makes me believe that they had them installed.

Thanks for your kind words!!!
Another update just to show you that I`m not that lazy...
The nacelle and the floats are prepared for the paint job.
I`ve glued the wings and fixed the metal plates.
I`ve also added the PE bits to the engine nacelles and covered them with a primer.
Other bigger parts are also prepared for painting.

It's all coming along beautifully Filip, your usual high standard of modeling is showing.
Des.
-
Outstanding Filip, words fail me at the moment.
-
Many thanks for your kind words!
Some painting and masking done - as the base for the CDL I`ve used the good old XF-57. I`ve sprayed Red Brown at the area of the wings which was reinforced with plank wood and the ribs. The ribs were masked after the whole wing was covered with XF 57 again in order to simulate some depth. The effect I wanted to achieve is presented in the picture below:
Masking:
Next, I`ve sprayed the lightened up base paint at the ribs and between them in order to make the shading effect more vivid. Now it`s time for varnish and some artistic oils.
I`ve also added the stitching using the 0,06 fishing line.

Very sublime, Filip. Great paint job on the wings, but not only this!
-
Beautiful work on the wings Filip and the stitching is excellent, looking forward to seeing more.
Des.
-
Filip, I can't miss this!
You made an excellent start and so far I love every single detail, but the wireless is genial!
Antonio
-
Continuing to be a beautiful build! Excellent paint work and the stictching is terrific!
EAGIII
-
That stitching is really impressive - and it makes the model so much more realistic. The interior is superb in every way.
Stephen.
-
Wow! The wings are really impressing. The stitching looks great , too. Superb job,
Manni
-
Guys, you are truly very kind and it keeps my level of motivation high.
I keep on pushing with the build.
Masking prior to spraying the upper wing surfaces:

Upper surfaces done, only varnish and oil left to be applied.

Horizontal stabiliser and elevators (something got sticked to one of them and has been already removed ;) )

Continuing to get better with each update! Gorgeous paint work on the ribs and see through effect!
RAGIII

I`ve managed to glue the nacelles:
I`ve decided to instal the machine gun because there`s definitely something in the only picture of the Hydravion I`ve found online...
I`ve weathered the engine nacelles to imitate some castor oil staining. I`ve added scratch-built oil pulsators.
I`ve prepared the wing for the nacelles assembly. Once again I`m more than happy that CSM has prepared these great fittings.

All I can say is that as usual all looks superb! Terrific modeling and painting!
RAGIII

Looking good Filip, looks like a spider got lost on your aircraft :o. I am sure you are up to the task.
-
She is looking beautiful, Filip ;)
von B

Many thanks!!!
Nothing spectacular but I keep on working. Around sixty buckles and lines prepared to be fixed to the upper wing anchor points... twice as much still left to be done.

In a word, Outstanding!
RAGIII

Beautiful build! May I ask what are you using for the rigging line?
-
Cheers!
I use the 0,08 fishing line.
The upper wing is ready to be fixed.

Floats painted and weathered a little bit.

Beautifully painted! I would swear that I can actually see through the fabric on the wing!! The weathering on the floats look awesome!
RAGIII

Simply amazing. You are doing a great job!
Borsos

Nice Filip, really nice. Soon you become the prof Caudron assembly specialist ;D

Thanks! Krzysiek, I`ve still got one more to build ;-)
More than 100 wires done... around 60 left to go ;)

Great work on this beautiful kit.

-
Truly lovely job, Filip. Makes me wish even more for another open-truss model from WNW in 1:32. Oh, how I love those rigging lines.
-
Your rigging is looking spectacular Filip!. I know I commented before but the painting and construction are just superb!
RAGIII
-
Many thanks for your kind words!!!
Oh, how I love those rigging lines.
I`ve got the same feelings towards the rigging part of the job ;)
My Caudron finally looks like a plane ;) The engineering of the kit is very good - even with the floats and a rather overall complicated construction, it`s still easy to keep things well aligned and correct in shape.

Wow, it looks fantastic!
Does it need weight in the floats?
Cheers,
Frank
-
Thanks!
Does it need weight in the floats?
Basically, it does, but I didn`t bother because you have very nice looking trestles and beaching trolleys in the box so the tail will be in the right position.
-
So fantastic. Great build. Hopefully CSM will enter the 32nd market sometime.
Bye,
Manni

Magnificent work Filip! Beautiful work on a beautifully done Kit; I'm with Manni on this, a 1:32 Kit to the same impressive standard would be a real prize to me!

Thanks for your encouraging words mates!
I`m on the final stretch with this one... Some 20 wires left, along with details, gun, trestles and the beaching trolleys. One of my quickest builds, thanks to the kit`s extraordinary quality.

Thanks!!! ;D
Nothing spectacular to show you. Some minor details are in place.
I think I`ll try to make some beach and water base - seems like a challenge though...

Stephen.

:o Wow! On the pictures its looking so complex, can't believe it! You build a very nice model.
I have the land box in my stash, but I have a huge repect and will other kits prior this one.

Last step...
my engines were damaged I repared them:

Then cowling and decal fixed:

propeelrs are painted trying to represent tonkilaque tipical french brown redish varnish
Those props are Chauvière, meanwhile CSM propose Gremont props
(http://nsm07.casimages.com/img/2017/11/26//17112609030922623415388188.jpg)
they go to their places

At last the machine guns. The picture show the plane unarmed because pilotes had their own MG and always take it off..
i imagine a quite characteristic configuraiton with a colt MG and a Lewis one...
Machines guns had no ammo in the pics, they only armed them for war missions

Colt can't be founf in the market, they have been done join to propelers and decal, by Kajetan Schulz.
