Title: Wheels of Jasta 77b Pfalz D.XII
Post by: PrzemoL on September 29, 2012, 08:02:16 AM
I understand, that it is generally agreed that the outer covers of wheels on Jasta 77b Pfalz D.XIIs were in Jasta blue colour.
I wonder about the inner sides. Three photos of these birds known to me (one of them is ready to be seen in the page 18 of Instruction for WNW kit - http://www.wingnutwings.com/ww/55D011C85B852A4FB0E2814D3ADC292A ) depict dark small inner circles on the bright background on at least two machines - 1394/18 flown by unknown, depicted as a camo option by WNW and 1346/18 attributed to Rudolf Fuchs (photos in Osprey Pfalz Scout Aces and in WD 146). I wonder if it was some kind of Jasta marking or just grease leaked from the axis. If it is the latter, then I am surprised nothing like this can be noticed in other photos presenting Pfalz D.XIIs.
Any help in this aspect will be warmly welcome.
