Hello,
after a short holiday I found a lot of great feedback in my other threads - thank you very much!
After the stripdowns series back to 1/48: Here I like to show my third plastic model, a kit of Eduard: Albatros D.III OEFFAG 153
The wooden propeller is made from canadian maple and sycamore, the turnbuckles are Gaspatch and the rigging was done with fishing line. I had some trouble to get it straight ...
The painting was done with Gunze, Alclad and oils for the wooden fuselage. The rib painting do not respect the light correctly, the later models are better in that point, but I learnt a lot!

Well, kidding aside, another beauty off your bench makes me doubt that you sleep, eat, drink or make anything that distracts you from finishing one masterpiece after the other.

I think it came out great! Wood, metal & linen surfaces are all well represented. I am not sure what you mean by "do not respect light correctly." If you are talking about the darkness of the ribs, it looks correct to me. Very similar to the 2 photos below.

:) I'm still alive and eat, drink and also sleep. This models are the result of my last two years. I made 6 models per year, this year only two until now.
The next and last model to show here will follow the next days.
I am not sure what you mean by "do not respect light correctly." If you are talking about the darkness of the ribs, it looks correct to me.
My mistake was at that time, to paint up and down side in the same way.
The light comes from top, so the wing rib is often brighter compared to the fabric aside.
In the view from below the ribs are darker and the light goes trough the fabric and make it brighter.

I have been negligent in commenting on completed builds. So I am going kind of backwards as I see you have many others posted. Beautifuk wrk on the Albatros! Lovely wood tones and everything works all around!

But, I also see dark ribs on the wings of the D.III in the photos that I included. That was my point, yours looks correct.

The Oeffags of 153 series are some of the most beautiful planes from the WWI era (the combination of wood, metal and CDL) and your rendering shows her in her complete beauty, well done, Frank!

Steve, now I got it. So you made me feel more comfortable about my model 8)
If I remember right, I have seen s/w pics, where the ribs looks brighter seen from top. May be it depends from light and environment (dark ground etc).
