What a lovely trio you have there, Andonio! All are beautiful, but I'm especially accracted to Scaroni's kite.  I love the red, white, green and black markings against the light tan.  Very striking.  And the twin Vickers make it stand out even more.  Conratulations.
Cheers,
Bud

Your build of these three beauties was great to watch as always! Like Bud my favorite is the Scaroni bird. That being said I also love the blue bird, one I will do if ever a 1/32nd kit becomes available!

Thanks Rick, I don't prefer any of the three, as when you have three children... you can't decide which one is better...
I don't like very much the 1/32 scale, but if ever one HD1 will be produced in that scale I will take it for sure, there is plenty of documented profiles of Italian pilots...

Antonio

PS I hope this thread wil be enriched by other Hanriot models built here in the forum, I remember one HD2 on floats made by Arnaud (Naimbs) (http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=5259.0) and one by Jorgo (http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=5285.0)...

I do like the lines of HD.1, too. So let me join with mine, built a couple of years ago from HR Models kit. It is 6254 from 76a Squadriglia flown by Tenente Giorgio Michetti in Spring 1918 from Casoni airfield.

Great work Antonio. Where did you get the decals from as the only pace I found is Pheon who have run out of stock for HD1 in 1/48?
PrzemoL, very impressed with yours as well especially in that scale.

Thanks Toby, I printed myself the decals of the Italians, Scaroni's squares were painted by brush, the "76" are made from a vinyl mask made by a friend on this forum after my vectorial drawing, the Belgian cockades, the HD on the tail and the thistle were taken from an old kit I found on ebay.

Beautiful painting schema Iancshippee, the pilot of that plane however is not unknown.
It is the HD1 n.6272 Macchi built on French licence flown by Lt. Flavio Torello Baracchini 76th Squadriglia.
The metal parts (cowling and pilot's cell) were always overpainted with the "Camouflage light brown" which was used all overt the plane (excluding lower surfaces that were left in CDL.

As you maybe already know the decals of that kit have an error, on the 4 aces on the starboard side the colours of the aces are inverted: spades and clubs are red, diamonds and hearts are black!

By the way I really like your HD 1!

Ciao

Antonio

Hi Antonio and Rick, thank you! Antonio, thank you for the clarification! The decal sheet had listed it as pilot unknown, and my WD did not have any pictures of this particular aircraft. Also yes, I did notice that decal error! It’s also printed wrong on decal marking sheet as well, if I remember correctly! And yes Rick, I wish there were more of them out there!

Congrats to all for this bunch of Hanriots, one of my favourite airplanes of WWI.
The scratchbuilt floatplane in 1/32 scale is really a fantastic work in every side. It's my favourite toghether with the "Blue bird" built by Andonio.
Some comments for the italians Hanriots:
 - the 7517 of Scaroni had red "76", not black;
 - the 6254 of Michetti was a silver french production aircraft;
 - the "four Aces" example built by Iancshippee was flown by unknown pilot of the 85a Squadriglia based in Valona, not Baracchini's mount;
 - same airplane is painted light khaki overall, in fact there was not italians Hd.1 with metallic nose and light khaki fuselage, despite the rear cover of Datafile 82 with Baracchini's mount;
 - the silver italians Hanriots were the ones delivered from France, the overall light khaki were the ones built by Macchi. The former, arrived in Italy, had only the undersurfaces of lower wings re-painted red/green, the Macchi ones had also undersurfaces of upper wing painted in that manner. This is one of the general rules, on internet you may find photos of 4048, a silver aircraft with cockades under the wings, maybe the first Hanriot sent to Macchi for copying under license.
Cheers,
Roberto

On the book "Gli assi dell’aviazione Italiana nella Grande Guerra - Gentili, Iozzi, Varriale" I had found profile n.38 showing an HD1 with the 4 aces, although it does not show the red white & green ribbon on the turtledeck,it is said to be Baracchini's mount. If I remember well (I have not the book here with me) there was also an all silver HD1 with the same markings.
Title: Re: Show us your... HD1 / HD2
Post by: AndRoby67 on July 13, 2019, 12:42:03 AM
Oh yes Antonio!
Because Baracchini had two Hd.1s marked with four aces, one silver (No.515) and one camouflaged inside 76a Squadriglia.
But Baracchini was not the only one that used four aces as personal insignia (Baracchini himself used a black shield before the aces).
This is the one proposed by Eduard (there is a mistake in the decal sheet with the red/black colors in one of the aces series), with tricolor ribbon and an unknown pilot. Ribbons on decks was used by most of the pilots in service with 85a in Albania.
Bye!
Roberto

This is my build of the Modelik 1/33 paper card kit of the Hanriot HD-1 in Italian markings of pilot Giorgio Michetti, 76 Squadriglia, Istrana, December 2017.  Except for the prop and machine gun  (plastic from spares box) and the rubber wheels (O-rings), the entire model is printed paper card from the kit, with some 1/32 balsa stiffeners for framing and bits of wire for reinforcing the struts.  It's got some warts (and a couple of pieces I still need to add ;)), but I like the way it turned out, and this is still the only kit option for an HD-1 close to 1/32.
