Title: WNW Fokker D.VII (OAW) Willhelm Leusch my first diorama.
Post by: Adam on August 08, 2016, 11:42:27 PM
I'm OK I start my first diorama in my life.
The main character here is known, its history is described here.

http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=4540.0

Here will be presented the scene repair of that plane.
This is my idea of such a repair done on the basis of different pictures describing the repair of aircraft in WW I.
Last weekend I made a few details.
At the beginning I began carpentry work.  ;)

The result looks like this.

This morning at sunrise I took this picture.

You can see further progress.
Ladders I took from the box of Rolland C.II from WNW, is a bit of laziness from my side.  ???
There will be two Aviattics figurines, I bought them from a friend after he lost a few parts from the the carriage with the fuel pump.  :P
Stand engine will get the wheels.
You can already see two buckets and a funnel.
I hope that from this mess will emerge nice diorama.

Adam.

That is an excellent start - the extras are already adding to an excellent D VII. I am looking forward to seeing more of this one.

Recently a lot of the time I spend away from home on business trips. I had little time to work on the diorama.
At the moment I made the wooden supports for plane and ladders.

The top of tali support.

All wooden parts got surface primer.

I started to paint them on a color wood.

I also wanted to give the screws from Taurusmodels. but here I gave up.  :-[

I also made the transport trolley.

And here are the screws Taurusmodels.  ;D

Almost ready.

It will also be the tool box and tools.

I started making figurines aircraft mechanics.

They have little odd proportions. Therefore, I plan to buy other figurines.

I started also plan to set the diorama.

Now again there is an interruption to the end of October, because I have a new business trips.  :(

Dittos, moving along well,  maybe shortening the necks will do it. ??

As it comes to the figures I also agree with the others: Cut their throats!

Figures have all parts glued by Blue Tack, because I wanted to see how they look. Just now I'm going to make them. Of course, their necks will be cut to size.

I thought that those ladders and supports had been made from wood! I had to go back to check that they are plastic!! Brilliant work. Agree about the problems with the figures though.

Juan and Stephen Thank you for your opinions, they are an encouragement for further work.
I think that problem with necks is solved.  ;)

I did a little improvement on the ladder, I added metal reinforcement and "screwed" them by screws from Taurusmodels.

In the figurines I filled in  castings defects.

I took out from the hands of unnecessary items.  ;)

Because the hands will be held a ladder.

Then followed preparation for painting figures.

After application of the primer, there was a painting the suits, it will be airbrush painting, by using paints Lifecolor.

In the meantime, I make different arrangements of settings my dioramas. I saw on the picture wooden crane to lift the engine, it looks like you can see in my picture.

In my opinion, a wooden crane with three legs would have been too high.

I already bought a block and chain to the winch.

Currently figurines are painted on the base color, now will be, shading and painting details. Soon I will show pictures.

One of my friend offered me a different setting, in fact it looks better. Soon will try to take pictures.
Now before me it is the most difficult task I have to do the base with grass and sand. On some of the photos I've seen dioramas with floor boards on which stood a plane, but I've not seen the pictures from the period of WWI. Maybe some of you have seen such a picture.

Juan and RAGIII, thank you, nice to read your opinions.
Lately, I have not had too much free time.
Every free hour I spend on work on my diorama.
I made new wooden crane.

Also I made new table.

(http://

I started doing the basis for the diorama.
The first time I plant grass.  ;)

To reveal the engine, I moved the ladder to the other side of the aircraft. Wooden crane also changed its position.

At the time of Christmas and New year, works were stopped due to the arrival of my 2.5 year old grandson.
After this time I will be finished my diorama.

I like the new arrangement much better! Could you give a description of the materials you used for the grass and ground work and how you applied them?

My dear friends I'm sorry that I'm just now thank you for your feedback.
But the life of a pensioner is more time consuming than I thought.

RAG III grass is planted using an electrostatic method, by means of self-made equipment.

Only now I managed to order and install a frame for my diorama.

Now it will be painting this frame.
Then the final assembly will take place.

All the wooden elements except the two ladders I made myself. Wherever possible, I screwed it with Taurus Models screws.  ;D
The first time I painted figurines.
For the first time I also planted grass using equipment to kill flies and mosquitoes and metal strainer.  8)
While doing dioramas I gained a lot of experience, I think it will not be the last diorama.
I have mastered many new modeling techniques.
Now I have the knowledge how to make figurines, make wooden items, and of course I know how to plant grass.  ;D
My diorama does not have a pattern, on a particular scene from a photo, this is my vision, but based on the different photos I saw on the internet, journals and books.

Taking part in this GB mobilized me to finish this diorama.
Thank you very much Des.

Adam.

Adam,
Congratulations on a really masterful Diorama. It's got it all, activity, a great centre piece with the D.VII, and accessories galore, each finished very well. The details you've added from the galvanised finish on the buckets and the crumpled rags to the cart all flow back to the center piece very nicely. Lovely work you can be very proud of!
Cheers,
Lance
