Hello All,
I'm starting this little Snipe for a Gordon Stevens Group Build over on HyperScale. It will be in a post war silver but folks over here might still be interested. We need to put some more new blood into the Vac Builds over here too! ::)
This is just the kit contents shot and the first of the parts removal. It looks like a nice delicate kit and I can use my almost finished WNW Snipe for some extra detail! ;D

Dan,
The Warbirds Snipe is excellent kit my old friend. I'm very much looking forward to following your latest Vacuform Saga.

All,
After some other projects, I want to get back to my vac Snipe. I do love Roden kits since they usually give you plenty of spares! You can see I put in a pretty convincing engine and I'll be using a couple of guns from the spares.

Everything fits pretty well and is straight so far. The interior is very simple as you can't see much in there. I still need to cut out part of the upper deck in front of the pit and add gun pads and a joy stick. That will round it out nicely.
I'm also going to experiment by just using the single wing parts eg. not skinning the bottoms which I usually do. I do this for strength but also for more convincing and more positive strut attachments. But, I want to see if the kit as is is convincing enough. At least the airfoil will be thin! I believe one of the "selling points" for these was the use of only one surface.
Fun to be back with this guy. More soon...

Great to see you back on this build Dan and what you have done so far is looking really good.

Thanks, Des. It's nice to get back this little guy. I just finished building a WWII bomber and I miss my first love of modeling over here. Good to be at it again. ;)
I got the guns on (will need some work on the decking, though) and added the bottom wings with correct dihedral. I also cut out the top wing opening and added a thinner piece on the trailing edge to look more scale like. All holes are also ready for struts so now it's a bit of painting and then a jig to add the top wing! The top wing was also slightly scored and correct dihedral added as well.

Ouch...looks like I need to shift the poor guy's seat! :P
Hopefully more tomorrow...thanks for looking!

Looking good, Dan!

Outstanding Dan! I once owned this kit many years ago and never got beyond opening the bag! Your usual awesome vac work!
RAGIII

I always admire your work Dan because they are vac forms which I never had the b….s to attempt. Somehow you make it all look so easy and it is impossible to feel that they are not injection moulded kits. This one will be no different.
Stephen.

Very nice work, Dan. Looks like this is shaping up to be another of your
masterpieces.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Coming together beautifully Dan, looking forward to seeing more updates.

Thanks Everyone! 8) 8)
I got the basic colors on and started decals. Looks pretty nice with the silver and blue contrast!

Tomorrow I'll do some detail painting and start putting top wing into place. Should go pretty quickly now...
Cheers and thanks for looking at this post war Snipe!

Simply beautiful, Dan!
Cheers,
Bud

That looks really nice. Looking forward to seeing this one finished.
Stephen.

Thanks Bud and Stephen! So here is a bit more...
The picture tells the story. I just need to paint the struts and then start rigging.

Tomorrow I'll shoot to install the landing gear and she's well on the way!
Thanks for looking...
Dan

Ha! Beautiful, but so tiny, Dan! I don't know how you
teeny modelers do such wonders in such a small scale. Whatever
the reason, don't change a thing, my friend. It's breathtaking!
Cheers,
Ernie :)
-
Hi Ernie...
Yup...they are small but it has it's advantages. I really have trouble finding space for my WNW Snipe but this little guy will fit right under the wing of my Heinkel!! ;)
Thanks for the kind words. I hope to get lots more done today as I'm off for the rest of the week!
Cheers,
Dan

Another absolute little gem in the making, Dan. Like Ernie I can only wonder at what you "Braille-Scale" Guys can create in such small subjects. I really like the colour scheme as well, nicely done all over!
Cheers,
Lance

Gorgeous work Dan! The construction and painting/decaling is exceptional! I am with the others in constantly being amazed at what you 1/72nd scale Modelers achieve...and a VAC to boot :o
RAGIII
-
You know guys...the other nice thing about 1/72nd is that you can sort of "hint" at the detail and your eye fills it in! Thanks for the encouragement. I'm really liking this little Snipe 8)
Cheers,
Dan
-
All,
I got most of the rigging in place and did some touch up painting too. Still a few more things to rig like the control surfaces but I think she'll be done tomorrow or very close!

You have made quick work of this one and she looks gorgeous. As always I have enjoyed watching your processes!
RAGIII

Dan I am having problems with your photos - I cannot see them. This is most frustrating as I am sure that the model looks really good!
Stephen.
-
Me too. There's just this impudently laughing little kitty...
-
Hi Stephen and Borsos!
Take a look over in the completed model area (second page, I think?) and you can see it in all its glory (ha!). Not sure what's up here but likely a Photobucket situation...
Thanks for the interest! More vacs soon.
Dan

Check out the completed models area. You will see those pictures!
