Being the forum administrator I have to read every post each day, while doing this I have had the pleasure of reading a lot of very positive comments regarding the forum. The latest comment posted said - 'the best WW1 model site in the entire known universe' (thanks Gregory) really made me very proud. What started off as just a tiny little forum with half a dozen members has now blossomed out to be a thriving WW1 model aviation forum with nearly two and a half thousand excellent members. We as a community work together, share our ideas and are not afraid to take a little criticism, we are all very friendly and make any new member more than welcome. It would not be a forum without you guys as its members, you are all a great bunch of people and I thank you for making the forum what it is today.

You have managed to keep the discourse positive and friendly, while still being constructive, and from the start you have made us feel welcome. Now it's time for a big group hug! :o ;D

I have to echo what George said above. Des without you and the support of your wife this forum could never have become what it has. Kept it welcoming to all levels of skill and interest to all and that in itself is an incredible task. It's attacted such a wide diverse group of members who are willing to share and advise and more, to actually care about each other in many ways.
Theres a whole wide web out there for people to hate mock and bitch on and I for ona am glad they know this isn't the place to do that and it won't be accepted.
Long may what you have given us continue Des I enjoy reading posts every day even if I don't contibute as much as I once did.
Proud to be one of the family.

As others have already said, first place to visit at the beginning of my day and a quick last look at the end of my day; doesn't get any better then that. Great atmosphere, greater people, and just plain enjoyable! Well done Des and Adrienne, and also you almost 2500 fellow Members! :)

Absolutely - everything as already said!
This forum's come to mean a lot to me too, with its friendliness, its expertise always on tap, and the inspiration offered by some very skilled people - I've lost count of the number of tricks and ideas and techniques I've picked up off the members here. Even if I wasn't a modeller, I'd still come here to marvel at what some of you guys do.

I made my comment the other day straight from the heart and I do truly believe that this is the best WWI model site in the entire known universe. Rightly so Des, you're proud of this forum and as you can tell from many replies to your thread opener the membership feels the same pride. As others have already said we owe a debt of gratitude for all your effort to build and maintain the place so many call home. Thank You My old Friend.
I would be totally remiss if I didn't mention our outstanding membership here. One awesome site and one awesome membership!

I am extremely humbled by the responses posted here by our exceptional members, this just proves that we have the best and fastest growing WW1 aviation forum on the net. I will do my utmost to keep it running the way it has been for the past three years with the only changes being to make it even better.

As many of you, I have spent considerable time on many modeling forums (froii?) in the past. I rarely visit others these days, primarily because they are too often cliqueish, leavened with irrelevant and often hostile threads and comments, and to all appearances run by an "in group" of sometimes arrogant people. I spent a few years as a moderator on a forum with 10,000 registered members and it took six of us to keep it reasonably courteous. We all finally resigned.
All this is to say that it is no easy task to have a decent, courteous, and helpful forum in a contentious arena. And, in my experience, it is the members who are the real moderators of good forums and this one is a fine example of that.
On a personal note, while i was going through my cancer treatments and plodding away at my Wingnut Wings Roland C.II, this forum, you members, were a small community part of my life and recovery.

The whole feel of the place is just right - open, friendly and informative and no sense of rivalry or one-upmanship.

So I'm a bit late posting on this, been on holiday in a place where internet is mentioned in hushed whispers and I only got a signal on my phone three times in two weeks. :o
This is a great forum, full of information, helpful people and a great owner. I visit many times during the day, picking up tips, inspiration and sometimes just looking at the great work on display.

Sorry that I am late but I really feel that I should add my six pennyworth here. Everything that has been written by the members is true: demonstrably so. When I returned to modelling 3 1/2 years ago I did so for a number of reasons but had not realised how the net had changed my hobby out of all recognition. I came across this site quite by chance after having had a bad experience on another. When I posted the first photos of my models the response was overwhelmingly positive and helped me a great deal to recover the confidence that I had previously lost for a variety of reasons. It is down to you Des that the group is a positive as it is and I agree with George that we all owe you a big thank you for setting a tone that we all wish to follow. You lead from the front in every way - your models are exceptional, the comments you write are positive and encouraging, you are generous with help and advice. The group follows your example and I thank all of you for it. Truly this is THE BEST site on the web.

I feel that the "spirit of gentlemen aviators" has prevailed right up to today even through to the modelling fraternity.I have always felt that I am in the company of true gentlemen on this pioneering forum.Hats of to you all!
