Good Evening Gentlemen,
Please find below images of my recently completed Wingnut wings LVG C.VI.
The wood effects were completed using the Ronnie Bar designed decals available from Alex at the Uchi van der Rosten website

Those wood decals look superb :) Excellent weathering/darkening of the lozenge too.

Keith,
Absolutely beautiful LVG C.VI my friend. I'm impressed with your wood toning too.To me wooden fuselages alway look best when there's a color tone difference between panels. Overall Master level project, congratulations.

For anyone who dismisses wood grain decals as unrealistic, they should see this. Truly Exquisite.

What prep work did you need to do, i.e. base coat, shading, to apply the wood grain decals? The final effect is superb. Is the darkening between the panels from the decals or applied afterwards?

Another excellent LVG. Well done!!! :)

Good Evening Gentlemen,
Thank you for the very generous comments about my work.
The Ronnie Bar decals certainly helped this one come alive.
The process I used for the wood decals is outlined below.
The Fuselage was sprayed with tamiya acrylics to give light and dark effects on the different panels, I used Flesh, Dark yellow, dessert yellow, white and dark brown. This was then sealed with an acrylic gloss varnish

Next the decals were cut to the shape of the panels using masking tape as a template, then applied using Gunze Sangyo Mr Mark Setter.
As I fitted the panels I sprayed them with acrylic gloss to seal them to prevent damage as I added the other panels

Once the wood decals had all been added I shaded the panels with tamiya clear orange and yellow then applied the markings and applied a satin varnish to finish it off

Keith, that is a marvelous creation. Those wood decals, I wouldn’t have know unless told, are absolutely stunning. I have not see any wood panel work that matches that. That LVG is in a class by itself!
