I'm fortunate in that only live about a mile from the venue. Went today and will be there tomorrow. Looks like a good turn out so far.

Hear, hear! Should be quite a show. Hopefully with the Great
War's centennial there will be a lot of models of that era:D
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Have fun, guys! Wish I could attend. You will keep us informed regarding any new WWI releases, won't you?
Cheers,

The convention was terrific! Literally thousands of superb models in all genres, mind-boggling (and wallet-busting) vendor rooms, a delicious awards banquet, beautiful weather, and spending time with many of my modeling buddies all combined to make this a very enjoyable experience.
My entries did better than expected with the biggest surprise being my WNW LVG taking 1st place in the 1/32 Biplane category. I can't remember the exact number but I'd say there were a dozen or so entries, most if not all WNW kits, including a beautiful Felixstowe. The quality of all the builds was very high and I had doubts I'd even place. So imagine the shock! One of the judges of the category spoke to me later, as I was packing up the LVG, and had some very nice things to say.

I'm not surprised the judge had nice things to say.
How could he not!
Very classy model Eric.
Congratulations. :)

Thank you all for those very kind words! That means a lot to me.

Congratulations, Eric, on the richly deserved honor! She certainly is a beauty.

Congrats Eric, well deserved ! Your build hit all the items necessary to win: Alignment, consistent finish-paint and decals, proper seams, all the others had a glitch or 2. To be exact there were 15 WNW kits in the category and another 2 in the 1/32 OOB category and 1 more in the diorama category. Too bad the "Chinese fire drill" to vacate the room after the awards didn't give me a chance to meet you. Next year in Columbia, SC ???

Oh well done Eric!

Bravo, Eric!! You made us all proud!
In Columbia, S.C. next year?? Both my parents were born in Columbia. I will be there and will be glad to translate the local lingo for anyone who needs help.....y'all.

I was lucky enough to see Eric's LVG and it was definitely the cream of the crop for me. Well done sir!!

Thank you Ed! I greatly appreciate that. One of the other judges spoke with me briefly as I was packing up the LVG but I don't recall his name. That meant a lot to me too.
That had to be a tough category to judge. When I saw the overall quality of the other builds I was wondering if I'd even place. My wife, who came too, will testify to my shock during the awards program!
I know what you mean. One of my favorite parts of the entire event is chatting with everyone afterwards and I'm always a little sad when the room clears out so quickly. Another of my winning entries, the 1/48 F-4B Phantom, generated a small mob scene and I ended up spending most of the time talking with folks about it. :)
I don't know if I'll be able to make Columbia though. We'll see.

Congrats, Eric!
Well deserved ;)

Congratulations Eric! Your LVG is completely deserving of the win.
An excellent model, to be sure. Well done, my friend. :D

You have done your self and this forum proud. Bravo!!!

There's a great gallery of show entries at Cybermodeller and one "WW1" diorama caught my eye. I loved it - the attention to detail is excellent and it's very well done - until I read the plaque...see if you can spot the cause of my pain: http://www.cybermodeler.com/special/ipmsusa2015/pages/ipmsusa2015_396.shtml

Pretty easy, crashing a WNW kit for a diorama...

Um, wasn't it Herr KLUGERmann? Or Holbach?

Close! Hauptmann Heidemann, the line being "You said it yourself, Herr Hauptmann" ::)
And Ed, I'm not so sure that's a WNW kit?

Excellent job, Eric!! It's one thing to even place at a National, but a FIRST, that is great! Congradulations!

You are correct, I was thinking of the other diorama that had a crashed WNW Pup upside down.
