Hi Guys,
Although not 'Completely' finished, I only have the rigging to go and a tidy up. Apologies for no
build log this time, but internet access has been intermittent, but soon to be resolved. This one
is going into a dioramma, but I thought you might like a wee taster.
Hope you are all good and staying fit a wealthy ;)
Cheers

Truly lovely, Dave! The taster is greatly appreciated. Can't wait for the full course.

She looks absolutely gorgeous Dave, quite an impressive scheme you used.

Four tries at getting a 'scumble' finish that sort of maybe looks right.
Also the internal framing inside was done 4 times. Devotion or just
plain madness? :o

Little of both, I reckon. ;) Either way, brilliant results.

Very nice Dave!
-
I love it Dave! ;D. Well done. This is the scheme I have always associated with the Walfisch, and you have executed it perfectly.
Cheers & huzzas,
Bob

Dave,
You've been very busy, I wondered where you were?! Nice to see you back at it and that you've not lost your touch. Very nice work, I like what you've done with the finish, absolutely outstanding Model! 8)
Cheers,
Lance

Should be done in 2 weeks. Then diaoramma, but I'll post some
pics before hand. Nice to be back in the fold.
-
This maybe the wrong place for these, but here is a potted build.
Notice the strips inside the fuselage are raised as they should be, not recessed.

Masking . . . What fun?

Bit of a mixture really, but you see where I was coming from.
-
Dave, you've outdone yourself, my friend! The Roland is superb, inside and out,
as is usual for your builds. I really like your paintwork...not the easiest to make a solid
colour paint job look good. Thanks for sharing this treat!
Cheers,
Ernie :)
-
Good to hear from you Ernie. Hope you are well. Must have a surf around the site and see what you lads have been up to ;D
-
Wonderful model - leaves me without words. The finish is simply superb - very realistic indeed. The build photos are utterly impressive - real devotion there and no mistake. Many congratulations.
-
LOVE IT, I realy love this built.
The first time that I see, that someone represents the canvas-strip-markers from the "wickelrumpf" on the outside of the fuselage.
BRAVO!!!
-
Vielen Dank Bertl, glad that someone noticed it. Its only here and there, and reperesents the shadow caused, as you know.
Something different though eh?
Cheers
Dave
-
I seemed to have missed this one. Lovely results! Very well done inside and out!

99% complete. Next pics will be the 'full shilling'.

Dave
ps. You may heve noticed that the wing Iron Cross' are painted, not decals. A wee adventure in masking :o
-
Dave,
I commented earlier on your results here, this Kit was not on my wish list, but on coming back for a second look I'm very much enthused by what you've done. I may have to grab one of these before it's OOP time! Your exterior finish is truly magnificent!
Cheers,
Lance

Cheers Lance, I had plenty tries at it!
Hope all is good with you

The 'scumble' finish is not really documented, as with th ecorrect colours (no surprise really)
So it was best guess and see what looked ok. The 4th one did ::)

Brilliant work Dave, but... This makes me KRaZy ... It is a C.II (roman numeral 2) not a C.11 ! :P :o
-
Changed one, not changing them all. Its also a C in Crazy :)
-
Dave,
What a real jaw dropper my old friend. Fantastic paint.

Cheers Ernie.
I will be more involved in a months time when we move and finally get internet back.
Where we are at the moment is a dead area, and that is why I have been 'quiet', if that
is possible with me ;D.

So what was the "mix" you used ?--looks great !

90/10 Tamiya Flat White / Deck Tan (thinned 70/30) airbrushed light coats.
Then Tamiya Light Blue / White 80/20 (thinned 70/30) stippled on with and old brush very gently in
a random pattern. But, most of what it actually looked like is all conjecture anyway, so if you do it,
do whats pleasing and looks right to your own eye. Thats the fun.
Cheers my friend
Dave
-
Really a delight to view, Dave. All the kudos are certainly well deserved.
Can you talk just a bit about how you did the seat? The wear on it is wonderfully convincing.
Cheers from NYC,
MIchael
-
Thanks Michael, it was a variation on a theme really. The seat was primed in light grey (I always use Tamiya acrylics), then the parts that were going to show wear were painted on by fine brush using Deck Tan (you could use any whitish colour). Then I lightly airbrushed coats of Red/Brown thinned quite a bit, some thicker and darker than others (shading where required). Maskol covered the worn bits. Then once satisifed I removed the Maskol and buffed up the bits of the seat where the back and the butt go (for the obvious reaons). That basically was it. Follwed it up with fine shading, so to speak, with a
fine brush.
Cheers

Your diorama is absolutely brilliant Dave, the details you have incorporated are superb.

99% there. Only one more thing to add Des and then I'll post the final pics

OK, thanks for the tutorial. Very informative and makes total sense. You definitely have a good eye and an ability to make things look convincingly realistic, and, and scale!

Really wonderful! Fine model, well laid out diorama. Bravo!
Great photos, too. The trees in the background are so realistic......
Cheers from NYC,
Michael
-
Not to mention the plant pots and the house next door ;)
I didnt really take much notice of what was behind though.
Really, it needed to be placed in the open with the green stuff
away in the distance, perspective wise, but nothing close to home, so
the back yard did the job :)
Cheers

Dave, as a part time model railroader, I love dioramas. Yours is absolutely wonderful! Very good work.

Have a good one ;)
Dave

Spectacular finish, Dave. Lots of activity and neat stuff to look at in the Diorama, and, as I said before, the Model is Beautifully done. Very, very nice work!
Cheers,
Lance

Great job on the diorama, Dave! It seems likes should be obvious, but shooting the photos outdoors sure adds to the realism. The trees and other background elements also help.
