Title: Rushed to hospital
Post by: Des on June 20, 2015, 03:00:40 PM
I have to apologise to all the members for my sudden disappearance from the forum.

I was rushed by ambulance to hospital on Wednesday with an unknown infection, very high temperature and uncontrolable shakes. When checked at the hospital it was found that I had a severe UTI and a lung infection plus a dose of pneumonia and fluid on the lungs. Massive doses of intravenous anti-biotics and penecillin soon had the situation under control, my wife picked me up from the hospital and took me home Saturday afternoon. I'm still on another two weeks of oral anti-biotics and more blood test to be done on Monday, the doctors were unable to determine the cause of the infections. Hopefully all will be well again from today.

I am sorry to hear that, Des. Could it be a delayed reaction from that monster spider bite? I sure hope not and that you recover soon! Best wishes, Pietro Pinoni.

Take it easy Des, and I hope you are over the worst of it, take care and let your body do the healing with the aid of the wonders of modern medical therapy. Part of the wonders of the "maturing process" as I'm sure you know.........just ask me! Best wishes my friend.

As with Pietro, I immediately wondered if it was an after-shock of the spider bite??!!  Dang.

Please let us know what the follow up blood testes reveal. Feel better soon!!

Cheers from NYC,
Michael

PS I'd send pix of a recommended nurse but I am sure Steven Robeson will do a much better job at picking one out.

PPS The upside of this is that we Non-Commonwealth boys get to see words like "Crikey", and "Blimey" actually used in sentences. I'm still waiting for "Steady on, old chap" and "keep a stiff upper".

Thanks very much for all your kind wishes and comments, they all help in making a guy feel much better. I'm still a long way from being 100% but each day is getting better, a full 10 hours sleep last night was the best medicine I could have, I woke this morning feeling pretty good, another few days and I should be well on the road to recovery. Thanks again guys for your concerns.

Des.

Sounds like you are on the road to recovery Des which is great  :)
There is a particularly bad flu/virus doing the rounds in NSW at the moment with many sufferers ending up with pneumonia. However, it wouldn't surprise me if this is a result of that nasty bite you copped recently.

Take care,

Andrew

Many thanks to all those who have offered words of support, they are much appreciated.

Dave, the release of a Be.2 would be the best medicine a man could possibly have :)

No, actually I just said that to cheer you up.

Best wishes!
