Title: Brief Glory - The Life of Arthur Rhys Davids DSO MC, by Alex Revell
Post by: Squiffy on June 19, 2015, 07:11:13 AM
Squiffy,
Nice catch on the books; I found a deal on the Hunting with Richthofen Book a year or so back, it's a good one. I'd be very interested in your comments on Brief Glory, looks like another I'll need to pursue!
Cheers,
Lance

I found it an extremely interesting read. The first two chapters are all about his school days and so it's not all action but it's all the more interesting for it. That said, it does contain a lot about his time with 56 Squadron, including the Voss fight.

It's a very personal book, more so even than those authored by pilots, because it's full of letters home to his mother and sisters, both from Eton and from France.

Of course it's very sad too because, well, you know how it ends already...
