Hi, Gregory,
Excellent work as always, mon ami, and well presented in the museum. I must check in to that "Canadian kit" you mention. I think that there was a cottage industry chap out in British Columbia some years ago who might be the producer. This'll give me a chance to play Sherlock Holmes a bit! 8)

Very nice Gregory,
It must be nice to have them on display like that, so that people visiting the Museum can enjoy them.

Seeing the Glencoe Oeffag D.III 253 was an eye-opener, that has to be the benchmark for my build. The finish is beautifully even. How did you do that? *tips hat
Regards :)
-
David,
Thank you very much my friend. The finish is all airbrushed, somewhere under all the layers of paint there's CDL and wood graining too. My 253 was originally part of a diorama when first completed, sadly only the defeated 253 remains.

Hello Gregory:
Neat stuff. Of course the Breguet is my favorite followed by all the rest of them. I was glad to see that you used some Aurora kits as the basis for your work. Building them in the 50's is what piqued my interest in WWI subjects.
Thanks again for sharing your work.
Best

Hi Gregory,
Can't get tired of looking at those. Was the Breguet difficult to build? I ask since I'm just starting my first 48th scale vac and am wondering about sagging flying surfaces etc.
If mine turn out half as nice as yours, I'll be very pleased indeed.
Nice museum too! :o

Dan,
Many thanks my friend. The Breguet was not difficult to build at all. The sagging becomes a big problem the larger the wings are. That's why I reinforce the inside of the wing with plastic strips or brass square stock filed to fit. I have at times used brass rod as well in the upper wing . For the lower wing I use brass rod and hollow square stock running through the fuselage and wings. Although I've never used balsa wood as a reinforcement myself I've know several vac modelers who have and it works just as well. I'm looking forward to following your project and wish you the best of luck in the OKGB.

That's some really nice stuff there Greg. Especially given the kits many of them started from! I'm really fond of that Glencoe 253. I've got a couple of the Eduard kits and a couple of those "I gotta do this one" schemes in the pile. Hopefully when I get to them, they'll be as nice as yours.

Awesome work Gregory! I particularly like your rigging on the Gotha. Did the lozenge come with the kit? With this under your belt, I'd like to see you tackle the WNW kit.
And then I saw your scratchbuilt DH-2. Incredible.
And then I noticed the coin alongside the DH-2 for comparison purposes. Tell me that's a quarter and not a dime! Just incredible.
Cheers,
Chris
-
Great job with the Gothas. It's great what you do with the old kits.
Sean

Chris and Sean,
Thanks guys I appreciate you more than kind comments.
@Chris,
No lozenge came with the kit . Just and old dust pile of god awful red plastic and useless decals. This Gotha G.V was an 1958 edition . As for the WNW Gotha I have one I'm dying to convert into a G.Vb and will at some point.Glad you liked the DH-2, I felt the same way when she was first finished. Now I look at her as a poor old soul who's seen better days.

G'day, Gregory.
Your builds are an inspiration. I like the Breguet and the Gotha is impressive, but your scratch-built DH-2 is a real work of art, mate. Thanks for sharing these.
