Has anyone received their shipping notice yet? I can't wait to get this kit

Likewise. Says mine is already at customs!

I asked Richard Alexander if I was the first purchaser and, if so, if I won a free turkey.

Jokes about turkeys are lost on you Commonwealth boys.

Hi Michael.

Hope you won a turkey.

I'm sure you didn't buy one.  ;)

Boggie....if I do win a Turkey, everyone is invited to NYC for a Traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I still use the roasting pan my mom got in California in 1943 while she was there "waiting for daddy to come back from the War". He did and it still makes amazing turkey.

On a less succulent note, I was seduced into thinking that "held for clearance" meant that it was held at Customs on this side of the Bigger Pond. Nope...help in N Zed...but now on its way.

Diorama in planning stages!

Cheers from NYC...where it's snowing...again....

My last two orders with Wingnuts were processed and a shipping notice sent on the 20th and the second on the 25th of February, I'm still waiting delivery.

WOW! 1943. That's impressive.

Must be a very well seasoned roasting pan by now!  :D

Even better that it has been a part of so many happy family memories, and continues to be.  :)

Wingnutter Command delivered me a Pup yesterday. If you still need Hinomarus, drop me a pm.

cheers.

For what it's worth...

I ordered a kit on Feb.21 (not the AEG), got a shipping notice on the 24th, it left NZ on the 27th, arrived in Canada on the 2nd and was delivered today.  No customs charges either (bonus!).

So about seven business days (eleven days total) from order to delivery.  I'd imagine it would be pretty similar for both Canada and the US, assuming it doesn't get tangled up in customs.

Perhaps WNW have opted for a cheaper, slower NZ Post service, because kits do seem to be taking longer to arrive these days?

The only thing slower than NZ Post is a service operated by sloths... on tranquilizers. or maybe yhey are now using pigeons again.

Let us know what size the box is when one arrives please. If it is same as the F2a this would go a long way to explain the pricing - if larger sprues meant more expensive production costs.

I agree. It takes longer for the kit to get from WNW to the post office then it does for it to get from the post office to my house in West Melbourne, Florida, USA. In the past it would be at my front porch three days after clicking submit. Now I'm lucky if it takes three weeks.

Of course, if they ever stop including shipping. We may really be in sticker shock for the shipping options and realize just how inexpensive these kits really are.

Shipping on my kit was EMS, so... not a slower delivery method.

WNW kits used to make their way to Wales a lot more swiftly than they do nowadays.

I'm only just across the pond in Australia and my parcel which was shipped on the 20th February still has not arrived, but of late any orders from Winguts have been taking at least three weeks after I received a shipping notice. in the early days it used to take three days, so it is one of three things or a combination of all three, Wingnuts, NZ Post, Aussie Post (Aussie post has a reputation of being snail mail)

I know what you mean, Des: the same long wait in Washington, DC. I'm awaiting several orders, with the first placed February 5th...
Fingers crossed that they'll arrive before the 4 to 8 inches of snow expected here tomorrow! ~Ben

i ordered a junkers j.1 recently as i always wanted one but didnt get around to it. with all the sell out paranoia i feared i would loose my chance. point i am trying to make is it took barely over a week to get to new orleans louisiana u.s.a. i think there must be a number of variables and it will therefore vary. a couple years ago when x-mas stuff came thru, wanna say it was the year we got the dh-9a and w-29 as well as a few others, i forget what i got but me and my bud each ordered 2 or 3 kits. we ordered a week after the x-mas cutoff but it still took 2 months.received mid february, i remember really thnking they would never get here.

Both my Albatros DVa and my AEG arrived yesterday.  I ordered them two minutes after the AEG went on sale....I don't know when that was so someone will have to do the math.....doesn't seem very long though....

Don't they understand!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mailmen suck. many times i have been home and later check my mailbox only to find a notification that they tryed to deliver a package that needed a signature but noone was home. so then i have to wait until the next day and goto the post office and claim the package they were to lazy to deliver 24 hrs earlier. i live in an apt so they didnt feel lie scaling the steps to the 2nd floor is what happened.

well I have to disagree, at least about my LOCAL RURAL Mail Carrier. He knows me, Always asks about my Grand Daughter etc. He once drove up my 280', steep,SNOWY Driveway a few days before Christmas to deliver a Package because it came from New Zealand and he felt it must be important  ;D

Like you Rick I have a really good postman. If I happen to be in the front yard when he makes his rounds he always stops for a chat, sometimes for a good ten minutes or so. He always asks me about my models and what new project I am working on, he was very interested when I showed him my watch makers lathe, just a really nice bloke.

My postman demands money before handing over my WNW parcels.

If I don't pay, he keeps them.

That's Parcelforce for you.

If he stops to chat with any of his customer pals, then you say that your nation mail service is a snail mail...  ;)
Sorry, Des, I just could not stop from this joke.
Some time ago, when my son was younger he used to watch a cartoon about Koala Brothers. It takes place in Australia, though I am not sure if it is Australia-made. But one of the characters in that charming kids series is a turtle-postie...  ;D

Hello Gentlmen,
Has any one here had a WNW AEG kit delivered to the UK yet. If so I'm interested in what extra charges were incurred by customs and Parcel force.
My reason for this is I'm trying to decide whether to order this direct from NZ or whether to use a reseller here in the UK.
I have used both methods before and using the reseller is generally a shorter wait but is slightly more expensive.

Best Regards

Keith.

You are probably correct in what you say Przemol, the more times he stops to chat the slower the mail becomes, but hey, it's nice to have a really friendly postie  :) ;)

Keith, I reckon that unless there is a higher "release fee" for a heavier box, the fee will be the usual £8-9 - and the VAT at 20%.

Ouch indeed - if, and it is a big if, I ordered a Felixstowe and by chance it is delivered without VAT or release fee (it does happen sometimes) then the saving is almost enough to then buy a Pup!

Thanks Gentlemen,

Ian, based on my reckoning then US$229 is roughly UK£152 +20% (£30.40) and the parcel force fee of £8 comes to £190.40.
The reseller I was looking at is asking UK£229.

So is the quicker delivery time worth the extra £39? I'm not so sure.

Best Regards

Keith.

Do you mean Hannants?  They usually list their WNW stock in UK at the same figures as the WNW US$ prices.  I can't remember if Hannants charge postage, but they are worth a look if the exchange rate varies after they already have kits in stock.

I almost got a DVa from Hannants a few years back, but even then buying direct from WNW would save about £5. Hannants would be quicker, however there is always the chance that a delivery from WNW may pass by the release fee and VAT.  Rare, but it does happen.

The amount you pay is dependent on the Paypal exchange rate, not any listed bank exchange rate. As of today the PayPal USD/GBP exchange rate is 1.4638 so the AEG at 229USD would cost you 156.45 GBP. In comparison the quote bank rate today is 1.511.

HMRC will base the VAT charge on the quoted cost on the shipping manifest and the then current exchange rate. The last one I imported was the W.12 and the VAT/Handling charge was £21-00 approx. Personally I think the saving would be less than £39-00 but it all depends on what HMRC decide to charge and the PayPal exchange rate.

Hi Ian, yes I do mean Hannants, I have ordered from them and WNW before, WNW is cheaper, always, but some times only by a few pounds, the delivery is always quicker from Hannants. You do have to wait for them to come into stock there though.

I think Hannants is one of the very few authorised WNW distributors.  Very useful if you want a model quickly, making the few £ overall cost difference negligible.  For a DVa or Pup it is not much difference assuming they are in stock as you say, but for a Felixstowe the difference may be substantial.

I use Hannants for all sorts of kit, but haven't bought a WNW from them, not yet.

Peter

I've found HMRC tend to under calculate the VAT due. I collected 5 WNW kits yesterday, VAT was something like £40.

I think they may be using a NZ $ exchange rate, as the customs declaration is in NZ currency.
