Title: Felixstowe F2a Questions
Post by: Leftie on February 28, 2015, 09:16:45 AM
Currently building WNWs Felixstowe 4297. I don't know squat about WW1 planes so I need to pick your collective brains.

  1) What's wrapped around the wing struts at the midway point and what color?

  2) Did 4297 have counter-rotating props?

   Thanks!

I can't say for sure about the flying boat you show, but it was shown that counter rotating props did not work all that well and were a pain to keep in service with different parts, etc. I have read documents where they changed the engine to all the same rotation, but don't know dates of when it became common.
