Title: Wingnut Wings confirms 2012 most likely releases
Post by: Dave W on April 18, 2012, 04:33:12 PM
Wingnut Wings has confirmed that the subjects listed as "in development" on its website are most likely for release at some point this year.

Richard Alexander of Wingnut, speaking exclusively to the WW1aircraftmodels forum, said while no specific release dates can be predicted, long-awaited subjects such as the 1/32 scale Fokker DVII is on the 2012 release list.

He also reconfirmed that the Fokker D.VII will be available in all it's main variations.

According to the Wingnut website the "in development' projects at present include:

* Fokker DVII
* Sopwith Triplane
* Fokker E.II/III
* Sopwith Snipe
* Fokker E.1
* DH.2
* Fokker E.IV

There is as yet no word on the sequence of releases or whether the kits will be spread across the year or focussed on a Christmas splash release.

Sadly however there is still nothing further to report on the release of the much- awaited resin figures.

It looks like Wingnut fans will be spoiled for choice this year.

Cheers

Looks as if people will be getting in Christmas requests upon seeing those releases :)

If only they would do an Aviatik D.I in 1:32 . . .

Regards :)

Hi Dave, thanks for that info. Patience may be a virtue but I don't believe that phrase was coined by someone waiting for a Snipe and a D.VII

I have been kiiding myself that the delay to the D.VII was because they had decided to tool a Camel and were going to release them together.

My view is in line with the latest Windsock to Eindeckers are not that far away.

Thanks Dave. Looking at the list you’ve posted and if necessary it will be difficult to prioritize first picks. WnW’s release sequence may help out there.  :D Of course my all time favorite is the DH.2 but I’m beginning to look especially forward to the Sopwith Snipe too.

As we all know they’ll all be beauties so there’s no need to get a twist in the knickers over what comes out of the gate next. Do hope the figures are drawing near though, at least for some sort of peek. I’ll bet there are a number of us standing on one foot and the other in anticipation.  ;D

Anyway, all a great deal of fun. Thanks again.  :)

Thanks for the latest WNW news my friend. I have that strange feeling of a coming thinning of my  model money account.

Thanks for posting this information, Dave.  I may just have to get myself a Snipe.  Damn!  That'll make four of these enormous crates I'll have taking up space.  My darling bride might invite me to move into the shed, which we don't currently have.
Cheers,
Bud

We are definitely   on the same wavelength, Chris! With the news of these two on the radar, my focus shifted to the "Snipe and Tripe" at the expense of the DVII. To hear that they might hit the market this year increases the lure. And I just posted elsewhere on the forum that I might start the WNW SE earlier than planned. Ahhh... so much plastic, so little time...!  ;D

Christmas list in April? great idea! I've been set for these kits for a while now: sold the car, rented the boat, second mortgage in effect on the house...yep, I'm ready!  ;)

Well........ maybe Fathers Day if they're released early enough. Maybe a voucher towards a later purchase?
I can wait til Christmas. I've got a small stash to keep me busy until then.

  I know I'll have beaucoup trouble making up my mind which kit to go with first. I hear a newly minted Fokker D.VII,Sopwiths Tripe and Snipe and not to forget the DH-2 calling already.

DVII Snipe and Tripe as my most desired here though I suppose eventually they will all find a spot on my shelf!

I fear life is too short though - seems like I will never have time to build even half what I have now, plus I build other subjects beyond WW1 as well.

Maybe someday when I retire  :)

I'm with petrov(aritsch)27: the dearth of a decent 1/32 D.VII is like unto the WII guys only having the old Hasegawa FW-190A, and the old Revell Dora. I've been hoarding my D.VII references for "just such an emergency."
The WWI Snipe could easily be modified to post-war counterbalanced aileron and rounded fin. . .
I'm saving my pennies for one of each. . .

Looking forward myself to the new releases -

I like the look of the Fokker DVII, Sopwith Triplane & Snipe - but would also like another Albatros - the earlier DV to go along with my DVa......

Hello Dave:

It looks like this is a hot topic as it has been read over 439 as of this posting.  I too am anxiously awaiting the new releases.  In the meantime, I have plenty to satisfy my modeling needs and wants on my shelf.  I too am hoping for the long awaited Fokker DVII.

Best

It's the Tripe, Snipe, and DVII that I`ve been waiting for. I agree, so much to do, so little time. And I`ve got four of their kits in the line leading to the work bench already! Wonder how they`ll offer the various DVII`s; smart marketing would be separate versions vs. an omnibus kit full of options and extras.
Cheers,
Lance

No doubt that´s what they´ll do... just take a look at the recent Fe.2b and Rumpler, both with "Early" and "Late" versions.

Without a doubt the Wingnut kits are brilliant and whatever they produce will be a hit. There has been a lot of talk of what modelers would like to see produced, but with Wingnuts having 50 kits in different stages of development I'm sure all our wants and needs will be met sooner or later.

Ye Gods, I hadn't seen that number in development before! 50? Is this based on the WNW "kit numbering system"? Here I am, running out of time, and there they are, adding more and more to the potential list! I can't win! Or, Hey: maybe I'll win too much! ;D

I would be surprised if it has any other. That was the engine in the TVAL Snipe so I am sure the model will be the same.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but the announcement reads, "Wingnut Wings has confirmed that the subjects listed as "in development" on its website are most likely for release   at some point this year."

The DVII was initially announced for release in 2010. Two years on and it has yet to arrive. I'm just saying that "most likely for release" doesn't mean that they will arrive this year. I'm as keen as everyone to pick up at least two, maybe three, once they are on the market. And I hope that they do arrive this year. Just sayin'...

Good choice. Bit finicky to get the parasol wing in place (if I have the right aircraft!), but relatively easy to rig and a real workhorse in WW1.  :)

I  just won a  stiil sealed "Special Hobby 1/48  MS A-1"  on e-Bay.
I  searched the net  for one and the only one I found for sale was in the UK.  Fortunately,  they ship to the US.
Even  with shipping it only came out to be about $26 US.  :)

I'll never forget seeing an all original A-1 fly in the '80s  up at the Rhinebeck Aerodrome in NY state. It was a beautiful sight and  sound with the gnome rotory.
It  almost appeared too graceful to be a war bird .
Sadly, it is no longer air worthy.

Anyway, this is the Rhinebeck Aerodrome's A-1 that  I will be reproducing..............

I agree completely. It's just those pesky images of the first builds that are on the WNW site: they seem so close to production, and then we wait, and wait. Hopefully they will get them into production this year, as noted. To be sure, I have enough plastic in the loft to keep me busy, but I'd like to be busy on the WNW Tripe or Snipe!!  ;D
