Title: Awesome Toko 1/72 Siemens-Schuckert SSW D.IV
Post by: WarrenD on November 28, 2014, 02:26:27 AM
Not my build, but oh, do I wish!  However, it is a completed build post from another site. Check out that counter-rotating rotary engine!

Enjoy!

PS: If this has been here before, my apologies. Mods, if this belongs somewhere else, please move it. Thanks.

If I hadn't seen it, I would not have believed it was possible. I couldn't reach that standard if I spent the rest of my life trying.

If I could get close to that in 1/32 I would be overjoyed.

Those crazy Russians, I guess this is what they do during those long, cold winter nights.  ;)  Pieces like this inspire me to continue in 1/72nd. If I was a quarter as good, I'd be a champ!

Glad y'all enjoyed it.

And to think I was so proud of my Toko SSW... That is just amazing. Thanks for sharing this piece of this lesson in humility.

I don't think so, it's a counter-rotating rotary.

I posted this in my german forum a few days ago too. This so amazing. Far beyond my reach.
Truly inspiring.

But I thinkx Thumbs up is indeed right. The SH I and SH II were counterrotating. But the SH III which was used in this plane not.

We discussed this in my forum and one of the user qouted from a Siemens  Manual:
Die Propellernabe ist an dem Motorengehäuse befestigt und hat KEINE Verbindung zur entgegengesetzt umlaufenden Kurbelwelle.
The propeller hub is attached to the engine housing and has NO connection to the counterrotating crankshaft.

Truly unbelievable...But the measurements on the sketch prove it's actually 1/72nd...

Good grief, I didn't think it was possible in the teeny scale!
Thanks for posting, Warren. :)

Cheers,
Ernie :)
