Hey guy's ,
I won't be doing any modeling for awhile . I did major damage to my right shoulder cup that the damage has extended to my fore arm and might have to have surgery to repair the damage depending on what the specialist says ' :(
Terri
-
Damn, what a bummer, hope you are not suffering too much pain Terri, how did you damage your shoulder? Even though you may not be able to model hopefully you can still spend time on the forum and keep in touch with everyone.

Very sorry to hear of your injury! My hopes for a very quick recovery!

Thank-you Des and Rick :)
Des , it started on my holidays when I was doing painting on the outside of the house . I pulled muscles in my right shoulder . When I went back to work I did let my employer know but it didn't do any good at all . Ended up doing strenuous work for the past two weeks while co-workers were away . Well this made it worse to the point my right arm can't hold the weight of a can of pop . I'm off work now until next week . Not allowed to really move my shoulder for a few days . Yup lot's of pain , but they gave me some pretty dame good stuff ! I'll still be online keeping up to date , there are a lot of excellent builds going on !
Terri
-
Well, don't hold anymore cans of pop, T! Replace those with beer. Should compliment the pain meds nicely. ;) Sorry you're hurtin', sis. Hope your well soon.
Cheers,
Bud

Sorry to hear about your injury, Terri. I know firsthand that these sorts of things are not to be trifled with. Please take good care of it and best wishes for a quick and complete recovery.
-
Terri,
Very sorry to hear of your problems, I hope they are of short duration. As you say, at least you can be on-line and keeping up to date with many of the fine Builds going on. Take it easy, get better soon and you'll be back at that bench sooner rather then later!
Cheers,
Lance
-
Ouchies.... I know how it feels.
Lots of rest then lifting your arms no higher than the modelling bench is my course of treatment. Unless of course the chocolate is in the higher cupboard shelf of fridge. ;)

Very sorry to hear that Terri. I hope you are well looked after and enjoy as full a recovery as possible.

Hello, Terri -
Sorry to hear about your shoulder - what a (excuse the pun) a bloody pain!
Still, at least it will give you time to decide and reflect on your next (Pfalz?) build. I hope you are going to be waited on nicely while you are recovering .......................
Regards
Dave

Hello Terri
I'm so sorry to hear about your shoulder and the associated problems. Give yourself the time to recover properly but it's great to hear that you'll still be tracking things and keeping in touch via the forum.
Best wishes
Nigel

I hope you recover full function of your joints very very soon, Terri!
Take care.

I'm very sorry to hear about your injury Terri. Having shoulder, back or foot problems are the worst. Make sure you keep in touch.
best wishes,
Mark

Sorry to hear that Terri, rotten news. I pulled a muscle in my chest about a fortnight ago, bloody painful, it's ok now but these things take time. You've got to rest up.
All the best,
Tony
-
Here's hoping the specialist is able to put you back in good working order soon Terri.
Cheers,
Chris
-
Bummer! I tore my rotator cuff some years back and it was no fun. Hope you are on the mend quickly.
-
fast recovery Terry, you will back in no time!
-
Here's hoping that you can make a full recovery without surgery. I hope too that the pain can be kept under control but you will have to suffer the pain of not being able to make anything - it is that which I would find the worst!
Have a rapid recovery and certainly stay in touch with the forum.
-
You guy's are truly the best ! Many thanks for the support ;D
I hope to be back at the bench very soon , it is painful sitting here while the SSW project is calling my name . I'm hoping that there will be no surgery involved and just physiotherapy .
Terri
-
All the best for a quick recovery Terri. Hold the drinks in the other hand for a while! ;)

Sorry to hear of your injury. If it's the rotator cuff, I suffered a tear in one some years back but it generally fixed itself with some physio and massage- no surgery needed. It hurt like hell at first and was very uncomfortable but gradually it resolved itself. I hope yours comes right of its own accord too and without the need for surgery.
Kind regards

Hope your shoulder soon gets better, Terri.
-
Yep, bummer. Time for lots of rest, pain killers, oh, I usually mix my pain killers with a nice glass of wine (but don't do this and drive). Rotator cuffs, hmm, fiddly, very unstable joint those shoulders. I agree with Dave, they do tend to heal with, rest, time and physio.
Suppose you now have a perfect opportunity to do lots of reading and research and plan your next build.
(Oh, you could always find the time to feed your local squirrels!) :)
Get well soon.
-
Sorry to hear of this Terri, but like the others have said, take it easy and you'll be back in the fold. I agree with Steven, a great opportunity to research and plan future builds...
-
IanB , that's what I'm doing , feels pretty good holding a beer in the left hand actually ;)
Steve , I see we are still on the subject of squirrels :o I have enough trees in the yard which provide all the food the can possibly consume . Even with a cat eye balling them and trying to catch them I must say they are pretty dame brave !
Thanks Dave , Vincent and Ian from Doncaster . I tried a bit of modeling today by working on the Fokker D.VII for the GB . I was able to get paint on the cylinder heads and floor board , but this didn't go well and paying for now .
On a good note I did hear back from the specialist and my appointment is next month on the 9th . Was surprised by this . We don't have the best health care and normally this takes up to a few months on hearing back from them .
Terri
-
I'm happy to hear that you are managing Terri, but don't overdo it, you don't want to aggravate your shoulder any more than what it already is, it will take time to heal.
Des.
-
Hi Des , you are right , so I will take this time and do some clean up around the bench which is long over do :)
Terri
-
Sorry for your injury and I hope for you to an soon recovery.

Terri I have just found this thread and wanted to wish you a speedy recovery.
Thank goodness the beer hand is still in service! My apologies for my tardiness. :-[ ;)
Cheers,

I hope that you recover soon All the best

We in France are supposed to have a good health system (well they tell us so to justify how much it costs...) but it also takes months to get an appointment with a specialist... ::)
I will soon need new glasses and I have to anticipate a lot if I want to have them before 2016...
-
My appointment went really well yesterday and now know what is up with my shoulder . It's not pulled muscles , not the rotor cup . Turns out it is a pinched tenant and don't have to go for surgery , but I do have to go to physiotherapy for the next month .
Makes me one happy camper ! So no lifting my arm above shoulder height and no lifting over ten pounds which means ...I can sit in front of the bench with no worries !!!
Terri
-
no lifting over ten pounds which means ...
that you may have to put the WNW Gotha on hold?? ;)
Seriously, great news that your shoulder issue has been identified and hopefully very fixable :)
-
That's great news, Terri! It's been my experience that surgeries can cause even more problems than they resolve. So glad your doctor thinks you can handle this with therapy!
-
Great news Terri.
Just remember to be careful when lifting and moving that great pile of kits in your stash.
Best wishes
Nigel

Good news, Terri. Nice to hear no surgery is needed. :)
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Best news I've had today Terri!
Mark
-
Thanks guy's , it is a great relief knowing that I will avoid the knife .
No worries Ian , I'll be sure that I will be extra cautious when lifting ;)

One can of beer at a time and you will be fine!
-
I heard your sigh of relief from my place Terri, it certainly is a load off your mind knowing that you do not require surgery, just time and physio will see you back into full swing in no time.

Hi Terri,
thanks for the great news!
All the best for you and I wish you a quick and complete recovery. Or as the Germans say: "Gute Besserung!"
Cheers.

Small up-date on my arm here , every day it is getting better and better and I have been cleared that I can start doing a bit of yard work :) . It has been bugging me big time on not being able to start raking up the leaves . I have a huge back yard which yields 40 bags in the fall and another 30 in the spring .
Terri
-
Easy, kiddo! Don't overdo it. Raking a huge lawn all at one time can put a lot of strain on shoulder joints. I'm glad you're feeling better. Just take it easy.
Cheers,
Bud
-
Glad to hear about the progress Terri, but like Bud says take care raking those leaves. Our house and garden is pretty much surrounded by scores of deciduous trees so I can sense what you are up against each autumn.
Best wishes
Nigel
-
As Nigel says, Terri, take it slow. When we start to feel better is our undoing
quite often, as the wounded part tells us later. I'm happy to hear of your progress,
though. Keep plugging away. :D
Cheers,
Ernie :)
-
Terri,
Listen to the good advice that's flowing in and take it easy! Those leaves will soon be out of sight beneath a few feet of white stuff, so back to your Model Desk if you feel you must do something, you can rake them up in the Spring! ;)
Cheers,
Lance
-
On the mend just in time to rake leaves and then shovel snow. :-\ Yes, it's a good thing! Just knowing that you can do even a mundane job again takes the monotonousness out of the chore.
Cheers,
Chris
-
Know the feeling about all those leaves and then wanting to start too soon. Last week my back started playing up (perennial problem which gets sorted by a chiropractor - no knives within a mile of me!), and on Monday I felt better so went for a walk…..and afterwards wished that I had waited a bit longer. So, don't do as I do, do as the others tell you and keep to one can of beer at a time and let the leaves wait until the spring! Use the time saved to do something really important - like that model on the bench.
-
I really thank - you guy's for all the support ! I will be taking it easy and will do a little and there and my next door neighbor said he will come and help , which is perfect . Can have tea with his wife Sara while we watch ! And yes I will be getting bench time in ;)
Therapy is going well , but I don't like the lady who is aiding in this ..she isn't very pleasant . Only a week and a half to go so 5 more visit . Already though the shoulder isn't liking the cooler weathering and I can for see this being around for a long time !
Terri
-
I have one more advice: come & live in France. In my area (western coast), we have snow one year out of ten or so, and never more than 2 inches thick. Which means: 1st it never gets really cold, 2nd you don't need a shovel in the winter (unless you have killed your neighbour and want to bury him in the garden).
-
Sorry to hear this Terri. Take care of yourself. I can guarantee its no fun not being able to do the mundane. Hard to believe I miss being able to cut grass, etc. Hope everything heals up and you're good to go soon.
