Title: In a funk.

My mind and focus is scattered. My father passed in late Febuary after a long struggle with Lewy Body at 87. All of us tried our best and so did he. Dads memorial service will be at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on May 9, 2014. Why the wait?  The winter is still dragging on. My hope is peace will return along with model building zen.

   Hopefully the Service and the beginning of more pleasant weather will offer you some closure and peacefulness, Steve. Sincere condolences and we'll all be here when you are ready to get "active" again.

when you are ready.  The most important thing is finding peace

Having been through a similar experience I would only say allow time to do its work. Peace will come when you are ready, but there is no knowing how long that will be. I am sure that the memorial service will help, but still allow yourself time. Models can wait - they will be ready when you are.

Condolences Steve. I can't imagine what it would be like to have to wait this long for the ceremony. And others have said it already. There will be better times, but it can't be predicted how long it will take. I did find modelling consoling though. So...

We delayed the memorial because of weather in Minnesota, USA. Family will be able to fly in when the snow and ice are gone. This entire winter has been brutal up here. Polar Vortex is real. My weather knee says so.

Hello Steve:

I am just getting to this side of the Forum.  I can certainly understand your funk.  My father passed away 9 years while I was still on Active duty with the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune N.C.  It is a tough time and the only real "balm" is time.  My dad is also at Ft. Snelling.  You must be from the area.  I live in New Richmond WI and work in MPLS.  I hope you can once again find joy in the hobby.  I did, but it took awhile.  I just had to sit down at the bench and commence.  I started with real simple projects just to get something accomplished.  Went on from there.
Hope that now as we enter the middle and end of July, you are on way to recovery.

Very Sorry for your Loss! I am sure in time you will get back to a far better state of mind. My father is 89( A WWII Vet from the 4th marines on Saipan), and my Half Brother has just Made the decision to put him in a Home as his wife passed away from a tragic accident.
I wish you a speedy recovery from your UNDERSTANDABLE distress!
