Okay, here is my WNW Pfalz DIII.a. in Karl Degelows markings using the Pheon Sheet.  A great straight forward build.  I detailed some of the engine and cut away some of the cowling to show it.

Terri just it is now enough D III/IIIa. Some time later will follow D XII early and late, an E I and D VIII.

Great idea, as the Pfalz D-III/DIIIa is definitely my favorite WWI bird for it's gorgeous color schemes. Wonderful models too (über alles, wunderschön modell, Umlaufmotor). I'm currently finishing 3 1/72 WWII Fw190's, and after that, eager to start my own DIIIa which will be Hans-Georg von der Marwitz's beautiful plane.

A new bunch of gorgeous Pfalzes!
I'm working at adding mine soon. I thought building three would calm down my appetite for this bird, but I'm also sure I will come back to it one day, there are so many brilliant schemes.

Here are two Pfalzes, a D-III (Rudolf Stark, 4064/17, Jasta 34b, lilac fuselage band and spinner) and a D-IIIa (Hans-Georg von der Marwitz, Jasta 30, orange diamonds), under repair in a remote maintenance unit. 1/72 MAC Distribution kits, Roden props and engines, Eduard seatbelts and Spandaus, Brengun PE tools, Orion figure, home-printed decals and lots of small bits and pieces made of plastic, wood, copper, rolling papers, aluminum etc.

Well I just commented in your build thread saying the scene/Diorama "Would" be outstanding. Now I see it is actually finished.... I was wrong, NOT outstanding, it is AMAZING! Looks like a very well done diorama in a MUCH LARGER scale!

Thank you all. In my opinion, this kind of little scene is exactly what 1/72 is for. The models are not as big and finely detailed as WNW's but you can add a lot of life around.

About the Mata-Hari poster: months before I started this dio, I found this pic of her in a History magazine and I just loved it, I understood at once why she was so popular at this time. I thought I could use it maybe in a diorama by printing a scale bill. Then I had the idea of the dio when I found there was an optional D-III fuselage in the MAC D-IIIa box...The 2 ideas eventually gathered.

   Although the wheels seem expensive I consider them priced more then fairly given their quality and the amount of effort they must surely take to produce. I have a few more sets "ferreted away" for future projects and I treasure the little beauties!

Pfalz DIII - Jasta 10, Courtrai 1917
Another old 1/48 model from my wwi list days
My subject is the fascinating 1370/17 which was flown by Vzfw Hecht and then captured by the RFC. I always fancied a tryptych with the all-silver factory fresh 1370; then this one; then the bruised and used 1370 in RFC roundels with its G110 numbers added. Maybe, if I'm spared!

I built this a few years ago - WnW kit of the D.IIIa with a Model Cellar pilot to display with it. Aviattic lozenge decals for the wings (upper and lower).

I showed my partner the photos without the 1/1 objects for scale, and then revealed how small it was. She acknowledged her deep admiration for your skill but, over and over again, said "Why do it so small?!"  ;D
