Title: Protective Covering Finishes
Post by: harrierdoug on December 09, 2013, 11:55:38 PM
Hi All,

I have two main questions, firstly what would be the factory finish of a Protective Covering, Gloss, Satin or Flat and how long would that finish generally last (European Theater)?

Secondly, can anyone tell me what the upper and lower "metal" plates on SE.5/5a wing struts where made of, if not metal what were they made of?

pretty glossy off the assembly line but the dope degraded to matte quickly in the sun. the strut brackets were steel on the se5a, generally painted black or grey.
