Finished this one yesterday. Mistakes too numerous to point out, so I'll leave it to you. It was a fun, quick and easy build and that's what I was after.

You have done an excellent job Bud, the overall finish is superd and the scheme very striking. The Phonix D.I is not the prettiest aeroplane ever build but you have certainly made it look really special, congratulations and well done.
Des.
-
Thanks, Des! I would actually love to see this bus kitted in 1/32 scale. In the hands of such large scale masters as yourself, it would be a very striking model.
Cheers,
Bud

Bud, I would point out the numerous mistakes, except I can't seem to find them. (Rats!$
She's a beauty and looks great among her cohorts! Looking forward to whatever is next...
And yeah, this would be cool to see in 1/32...
-
Hi Bud. Very nice Phonix.
Great overall looking. The wood and rib effect are quite convencing along with that beautiful scheme.
Nice add to your collection.
Cheers

No words to do justice Bud. I just love this model! You've done a great job with her. ;D.

Can't seem 'em 'cause I used trick photography. This is what she looks like without the filters, smoke and mirrors.

Bud, First after I stopped Laughing,I looked myself for the errors. Well Damn, I can't find them either. That is a lovely build, wood, CDL, Red and white Markings, a beautiful scheme and execution of same!

Thanks, Bob! So, when are you going to scratch build one in 1/32 scale? You know that the minute you do, Special Hobby will release one and you'll be a hero to all the 32nd scale guys.
Cheers,
Bud
-
Rick! You can't see 'em either? Well, then, I'm concerned about your eyesight and our chances in the Team GB! Seriously, thanks, buddy. Have you started your Fokker yet?
Cheers,
Bud
-
No errors visible to me either. It is an excellent model. I was impressed enough by your build photos to order one of the Blue Max Phonix kits from Freightdog Models.
-
Thanks, Rob, and good on you for the Blue Max purchase. I know you'll enjoy it. I look forward to seeing your rendition.
Cheers,
Bud

It's a lovely build. the thing about mistakes is that you know they are they are there and stick out like sore thumbs but others just don't see em. She looks a beautifully turned out build to me.
Yes I'd love to see this and others like it produced in 1/32nd too. The thing is with the main manufacturer in 1/32nd in our genre (name withheld for no real reason) is you just never know what's coming. :o
Keith

Hello Bud,
Wonderfull painting as always. Lovely plane. I love all the builds you do!
Patrick
-
Very nicely made model. Congratulations.
-
The mistakes? Do not you see them, gentlemen? Well, the wood for A-H aircraft is a quarter tone too orange, J.4 decal is 0.001mm too far aft, the coats of arms on the rudder are misplaced, port to starboard and vice versa, and the exhaust pipes have too thin walls!!! :D
Bud, it is a lovely build all around. If you see any mistakes it is fine, everybody building models should see some in one's even best model. This is a good sign, we can always progress! The point is to build better and better. And this is surely one of your best models.
I like Phonix D.I lines, contrary to what others may say. I have already built one in A-H army colours, but this Navy livery makes me want to build one more - in the near future!
-
It's a lovely model. I like it a lot.
-
Beautiful work, Bud. Keep 'em coming!
-
Great builds of machines that dont get enough coverage - scratchers dream!!
Steve
-
Gentlemen, you are far too kind. Thank you all. Prez, I figured if anyone could spot the flaws, you could. Good eye, mate! ;)
Cheers,
Bud
-
Terrific work, Bud -
I personally cannot spot the mistakes - all looks built to your usual high standard in fact.
What next on the workbench - how about one of the WNW kits in your stash - a change of scale is as good as a rest!!!
Regards
Dave
-
Thanks, Dave! I just started a Roden 1/48 Fokker D.VII for a group build on another site. That one shouldn't take too long, and as soon as Rowan's Snipe decals reach me, I'll be starting my first 1/32 scale project. I'm all tingly at the prospect.
Cheers,
Bud

Lovely Bud!
Although I should point out that that shade of pink pig wasn't used until 1919..

Damn! I knew it! I'll make a note to never again rely on my grand daughter's research. Thanks, Guy! Between you and Prez, a fella can't get away with anything.

thats one clean phonix, we are always hard or ourselves for the slight imperfections. the only one i can even see is the one you mentioned with the turnbuckles and honestly prolly wouldnt notice without your prompt. i think she looks great. i really like the wood, the fabric effect and shading etc. it looks damn nice to me.

Thanks, Vladimir! The Austro-Hungarian aircraft are among my favorites. I even like the ugly experimentals, like the Priesel DD.

Lovely build and finish. A well deserved virtual pat on the back coming your way ;)

Sorry but somehow I missed this one. An excellent model of the highest standard - very many congratulations.
-
A pleasure to see how she's turned out, very envious of your skills;
and work like this must do wonders for the cause of greater interest in Austro-Hungarian aviation.
Yes, the naval ones are very pretty indeed :)
Mark
-
Thank you so much, guys! Now I'm starting to blush.
Mark, I really do hope that interest in A-H types will increase. I'd love to see more kits of these unique and interesting aircraft released.

Hello Bud,
I see that we really have similar interests!
This is the most beautiful and most successful Phönix. This is a great reference!

Yeah, I've noticed that our interests are similar, Arnaud. We both like 1/48 scale unusual subjects. Keep an eye on Copper State and Aviattic for some new and interesting 1/48 scale releases. Have you purchased the Copper State Salmson SM.1? Really nice kit.
Cheers,
Bud
