Title: improvement of Academy Sopwith Camel wicker seat

  Does anyone have suggestions or a tutorial on how to improve the Academy Sopwith Camel wicker seat?  I really like the look of Des's modification, but can't seem to find instructions on how he did it.

Brian Fawcett makes a great resin wicker seat to suit your Camel, it is very similar to the one I used on my build, you will find it in the link below.

Just curious, the Academy Camel is the Hobbycraft kit but is it the intial release or the improved later version?

The later improved version is as scarce as hens teeth, but the Academy/Hobbycraft kit does make up to be a pretty good looking model, yes, it needs work but it's all fun.

Good to know about the AM seat, as I have recently acquired the Hobbycraft kit (LeRhone), and would really like to replace the kit seat. The Part P.E. seat looks nice, but is probably too "fiddly" for these shaky old hands, caused by too much coffeine.

well, you could also try to knit one by yourself... it is not that hard but it does require a great deal of patience.... but, again, also everything else in our hobby deoes requre loads of it!  ;)
I tried myself a couple of times and the results were not so bad to my eye....
If you care, you can have a look in my DH2 build which is underway.

I'm in exactly the same position as I'll be building mine up next. I have worked out 5 options.

Use the kit part
Make one following numerous blogs on the net
Buy the resin version
Buy a sprue from WNW with a seat on. Off the top of my head there's the snipe and bristol
Crush a kit that I've already built for the seat. I do this anyway as my display space is limited.

Initially I think I'll have a go at making one or buying a resin version.

Oh there's the part of Poland set too.
