Title: A single (Eduard) Fokker Triplane
Post by: ScottJ on January 28, 2024, 12:07:19 PM
After viewing Dennis's most impressive Dr.I collection, I took stock of my two relatively recent triplane builds (within the last 15 years?), both Eduard.  I think I may have one that is not represented in Dennis's collection (Ltn Eberhardt Mohnike's Jasta 11 aircraft) although, I did notice one with a blue fuselage that may be one in the same?
This model was actually built for the Roll Models 1/72 Dr.I/Nieuport 17 contest more years ago than I care to remember.  The entry's were to be OOB with only rigging and seat belts allowed.  I added the engine plumbing and step, lift handles afterwards.
These pictures are out of the archives but until I can start building again they're all I've got... but thank you for looking anyway.
Take care
Scott

Nice one Scott.  :)

Difficult to restrict yourself to an out of the box build (Looking back on the various figures and few aircraft I've built over the last 6 years or so and I can only see a couple of figures that were 'as designed to be built'

Very nice triplane. Roll Models - now there's a blast from the past!

Beautiful! After this one and all the other great Triplane builds lately by Scott, Paul, Rip, Dennis, Danny, and the 1:16 kit by Butch (am I forgetting anybody?)—I'm itching to get out the Meng kit. But it'll be a while, I'm committed to Ein- rather than Dreideckers for at least the next four models.

And the mention of Roll Models brought back a lot of memories here too, I looked to see if he was still around, but the link on Scalemates took me to Kitlinx in Nevada... interestingly they're the outfit that's disposing of Lance Krieg's collection for him, so there's a tenuous connection to the old List, anyway. My son Curt has bought two of 'em (so far) :)

Thanks all for the kind words on that old bird (how about the silvering on the capacities table... egads!).  After I posted I went to take a look at it and it has several years of dust on it... guess I better spend an afternoon with the canned air.
Seems like triplanes have been the flavor of the month, I'm looking forward to seeing how all the other builds turn out.

Dutch, Kitlinx is actually in Sandy, Utah... about a 10 minute drive from my house.  Nice to not have to pay for the final shipping, for locals they contract through a hobby shop for pickups.  I did notice that they were the ones who are selling Lance Krieg's collection... too bad 1/48 is not my scale.

Thanks - I need continued inspiration to stick with these three-winged projects.  Your fifteen year-old work looks dandy to me.  I look at a 30? year old Revell triplane and certify as un-showable.  Those control horns and wingtip skids just seem to want to fly off the model.

I have not seen this scheme represented before - very colourful. Excellent model too - certainly one to look after and dust down.

Really nice build Scott.
Thanks for the jog of memory about Roll models. I remember participating in that very build as well!

All the best,
Tim

Scott,

Still trying to look at all of the excellent builds in this group and your DR1 is excellent.  And I do not have that one in my collection.  You kit has what I look for in my triplanes, color.  I like bright colors and your kit qualifies.  I still have three more triplanes to add to the collection and this one has moved to the top of my pile.

Very good work and one to be proud of.

Dennis
