Title: WnW 1/32 Jeannin Stahltaube (1914)
Post by: gedmundson on May 19, 2023, 12:10:03 AM
My WnW Jeannin Stahltaube is now complete and I wanted to share a few of the final photos here. My build log is at this link:

https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=13758.0

In summary I have to say it was a tricky build, with thrills and spills galore. Lots of rigging, and handling such a large bird with all of the delicate bits sticking out all over the place certainly needed a careful, well thought out approach, which I had most of the time  ::)

But the completed model is such an interesting looking example of early WW1 aircraft, and was a nicely engineered kit. For those interested, I'm putting together a write-up for Military Illustrated Modeller magazine where I can touch on all aspects of the project.

Cheers,
Gary

Gary -

This is up to your usual very high standards - and what a beauty!

The build may have been demanding but this is not evident in your completed model.

Regards

Dave

Another masterpiece, Gary. Congratulations.
As you say, the physical handling of such a large delicate structure adds yet another aspect of difficulty but you have overcome all triumphantly.

Excellent in all aspects Gary! This really captures the essence of early aviation. I like the color scheme very much with the CDL wings and solid color fuselage. A real pleasure to see your work.  Thank you for sharing.

My sincere thanks to all of you for the kind comments on the model. I really appreciate each of them. Hoping to start something new soon, but as of now have not committed to anything.

Hey, Lance - I’m hoping to make it to the Edmonton show next month. I’ve built over 20 projects since the last time we met up in Nanton, so I’ll have to be pretty selective of what I’ll take in to the Kingsway Legion in our little SUV! Hopefully the smoke will have cleared by then  :-\
Cheers,
Gary

If this Taube started flying on it's own I would believe it.  Really inspiring!

I don't know how you do it Gary, but that is superb.  I am drawn to the metalic finish on the cowling, the only word that comes to mind is masterful.  Not the rest of the model and paintwork isn't but that is really an eye catcher.  Just a joy to look at and scope out all the details.  I think I will sell mine.  No way could I even begin to put out something of that quality.  You have certainly raised the bar Gary.  Good on ya.

Well Mark - you make me blush! Of all the WnW builds I've done, this one was probably the most difficult, and I won't be building another. I did manage to take it in to the Edmonton IPMS show last weekend, where Lance and I finally met up - not since when we were all in Nanton together in 2019. Hope all is well with you!
Cheers,
Gary
