Title: Kagero-Book about the polish Fighter icon PZL P.11c
Post by: Umlaufmotor on June 02, 2022, 01:24:13 AM
Today a really nice book reached me.

About 200 pages are devoted to the Polish fighter icon PZL P.11c.
The book is bilingual, Polish and English.
One can find scale drawings (1/72, :48, :32 and (!) 1/24), the story behind the aircraft, color profiles, five build reports in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 scales.
But, the real gold treasure is on pages 34 - 81, wonderful detail shots of a PZL P.11c restoration.
Extremely helpful for my IGB kit which is still waiting to be assembled. (my 1/32 IBG kit is jumping for joy on the shelf as I wrote this).

I got the book through Amazon, but I'm sure there are plenty of other sellers.
Price at Amazon (Germany) about 34.-Euro
Here is the ISBN:

Kagero ISBN 978-83-66673-64-9

I have now leafed through the book several times and I can already say with certainty that it is worth every penny.

Bertl, that looks very similar to the one I got last year, MMP Yellow Series on the PZL P.11c and I highly recommend that book. It's around 152 pages. I'll look for this one as well.

@James

Very interesting hint James.
In the Youtube video, the book is browsed - it seems to show more factory drawings and cockpit details.
I think with both books on the shelf you are able to build the absolute top model based on the references.

Thanks again for the tip James.

Edit.
I have just ordered it.

You're very welcome my friend. And thank you for the the info about the Kagero book. I have just ordered it. I have two IBG 1/32 PZL P.11c in the stash.

So, the second book about the PZL P.11c has arrived in the meantime.
James is right, very similar to the Kagero book.
But only similar, not the same.
The MMP Yellow Series book goes into much more detail about the use of the P.11c in each unit.
The profile drawings are spread over a whole page (very good!) and it was supplemented with sketches from the operating manual (also very good!).
The part with the pictures of a restored P.11c is in my opinion much smaller, also the side trip to the various scale construction reports
is completely missing (a bit of a pity).
What can I say?
Both books are excellent in my eyes, each worth its money.

The main problem will be, if you have both books on your shelf, there will be no excuse not to build the ultimate PZL P.11c  8)
.... I am currently shopping for a handful of aftermarket goodies for my 1/32 IBG PZL  ::)

Thanks again to you @James for the tip.

Bertl, you're very welcome my friend. I have a couple of the Limited Edition 1/32 PZL P.11c's in the stash. They may be the ultimate PZL P.11c.

Sorry to be late in this discussion.
I have the MMP Books monograph and I would strongly recommend this one. Generally, the books from this publisher are considered better than the ones from the other one...
As for the IBG kit, I have one in my stash, too. And it is not only my opinion but shared by other Polish modellers with more knowledge on WW2 subjects, that the kit is absolutely top notch, highest world class, on pair with top kit producers. My personal view is that even WNW would not make a better one.
As with all kits, there are some details requiring correction or replacement. One most prominent is the propeller. Bits Krieg has a fine resin replacement. Another is the oil radiator. There are also some AM replacements at other not so much requiring details, as the instrument panel from Yahu or Master metal gun barrrels.
But even right from the box the model can be built to a spectacular resuls and will have amazing level of details. But most importantly, except from the poor prop, it is based on the measurements of the only surviving P.11c exhibited at Cracow Museum of Polish Aviation.
All in all, most highly recommended!

Hi @PrzemoL

I now have both books on my shelf - as written, both are worth every penny.
Yes, the IBG kit is a beautiful kit - there are small things to criticize, but tell me, what in the world is perfect?
I agree with you, one will be able to build a wonderful replica from this kit.
I just got some small packs of fine parts for my P.11 from Bits Krieg today.
The headrest for example, a dream in resin, or the resin-Zylinders from the engine  :-*
I think the P.11 will be one of my next projects - after my three Wingnut Wings Albatrosses (they are still in progress at the same time).

What a beautifully designed aircraft. The shape and the position of the the wings really give it a bird-like appearence!

Bertl: please do share your build with us when it reaches the bench! I for one would love to see it in our The World of Scale Models (https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?board=106.0) subforum.
