Title: New 1/72 kits from KP
Post by: Rip Van Winkle on March 12, 2022, 12:08:40 PM
I saw on the Hannants site that  Kovozavody Prostejov  is releasing a new tool DH9A in 3 versions and a retool of the Breguet 14A/B with 3 versions.  No date or price has been set at this time.  Good news for 1/72 builders.

Nice! KP are keeping their promises.
A DH.9a 'At war', three post war variants - two DH.9a's and a Russian Polikarpov R-1, and what seems to be a reissue of the AZ Model Breguet 14's - A French Br.14A.2, French Br.14B.2 and probably post war Br.14A.2 'International'.

If memory serves, wasn't "Leon" the marking option on the old Pegasus release years ago?  It's always been an attractive markings choice.

So, what y'all are saying is that KP is going to issue these out of the old AZ molds?

WD - "Leon" was the marking of the old Pegasus release. I was hoping it would be reissued with the new KP offering, and here it is.
The AZ Breguets were good kits well worth reissuing. The Br.14A.2 and B.2 "In French Service" had some colourful and interesting insignia, I'm hoping for some of them to reppear with the new kits too.

I've happily got those in my stash, just trying to build up the skills worthy of them in the meantime.

An old AZ Br.14A2 kit was sold on Ebay yesterday for $50 + shipping. There's another one still on and the price is rising.
I was tempted to bid till I saw this post... I'll wait for the KP releases.

Interestingly I just saw this on Scalemates - Ukraine company Clear Prop intends to release an injection moulded kit of an early Airco DH.9a in 2022, and a Russian R-1 + MR-1 floatplane versions. In view of the current situation this is probably uncertain.

No doubt. However, from what I understand from friends that have bought Clear Prop kits in the past, it'll be worth the wait.

I was just about to mention this - these kits have been generating a lot of buzz on Britmodeller so it'll be interesting to see what they make of the KP news.

Thanks for the update Willem.
Meanwhile I'm waiting for two KP DH.9a's, it will be interesting to compare them to the Clear Prop kit.

Hi all - more info on KPs Airco DH-9A/ Polikarpov R-1 1/72:

Taking direct from the article:

"The new DH-9A kit is based on the model by CMR, a company which is one of the top quality resin kits on the market. This cooperation has been working very well for a long time, which is proved by the many beautiful models we have already released, such as DH-5, Spitfire IX, Buzzard F.4, Bre – 14, Sal 2A2, Attacker, Albatros C.III and also the new DH-9A. Its master model was is completely redesigned for injection moulding technology and partly converted into 3D modelling. Then it is milled by CAD- CAM technology into a metal mould. In this way we are also creating other new kits, there is certainly something to look forward to. This fast and relatively inexpensive modern technology allows us to keep the selling prices of our kits very low and decent for you, given the high prices of practically everything needed for production today."

The partnership from CMR is obviously an ongoing thing (I noticed this when I reviewed their Salmson 2.A2).

Cheers,

BC

The two D-H9a kits I've ordered have arrived and they look very good. Compliments to KP for producing quality kits in styrene from the old CMR molds and for keeping the price low, and it's nice to know there are more to come.
