Post by: DeLano80 on November 02, 2021, 10:57:16 AM
Are there any known profiles for nieuport 11s of the Lafayette Escadrille? My searches fail me.

I agree completely with the others reference this book. Photos and profiles of every type of Nieuport flown by the Lafayette Escadrille!  Nieuport 11, 16, 17, 21, 24bis, and 27 aircraft are included.

Thanks everyone, I have it on order. I will say I am astonished by the lack of decals for the 11 in 1/32.

Me too. I can’t understand the lack of aftermarket decal sets for the Nieuport 11 neither.

if you ponder that thought quickly, you come up wth these thoughts

Udet is best known for his 7 kills with the Eindecker E 3, not the rest of his 62 kills that came with an Albatross D III or FokkerDr1

how long was the service life for the 11?

how many aces used it?  got scores in it?

look at manfred, hes only remmembered for the red dr1 he died in

mk, I think you should write your own history of Great War aviation - it would be very entertaining!
It would certainly be different from anything else published on the subject.

Once you get the book you will see that the markings of the Escadrille Americaine Nieuport 11 and 16s were simple white letters or symbols.   Most can be made as simple stencils using Tamiya tape (wide roll) stuck to a piece of glass, then make a copy from the book scaled up to 1/32 scale and use a sharp knife to cut around the marking.
