Title: Luftstreitkrafte in Italy: Jasta 1, Jasta 31 and Jasta 39
Post by: 2996 Victor on October 30, 2021, 05:25:10 AM
Hi Everyone,

another question from the newbie!

As part of my planned projects Italian Front scouts/fighters, I'd like to include one or two examples of the German aircraft operating there between Autumn 1917 and Spring 1918. The three Jagdstaffeln redeployed to Italy were Jasta 1, Jasta 31 and Jasta 39.

There seems to be limited information on t'interweb, the few images I've stumbled across are largely centred on Ltn Loeser's candy-cane striped Albatros. A couple of his Jasta 39 cohorts' machines appear in a couple of photographs.

I was wondering whether there were any other sources of information for the colours and markings of these three Jastas during that time period?

Thanks in advance for any pointers or leads!

Kind regards,

Mark

Peddinghaus Decals produces this set for the Albatros D.III D2125/16 of Ernst von Stenglin:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324822012810?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201018205123%26meid%3D3d9cc32f6f9a47369400fa227c57417d%26pid%3D101286%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26mehot%3Dnone%26itm%3D324822012810%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26algv%3DWatchlistVariantWithMLR&_trksid=p2380057.c101286.m47999&_trkparms=pageci%3A11fd2a6e-3a88-11ec-93f5-0ab8bc923b35%7Cparentrq%3Ad8033cb017c0ab8fbeafd26affe69762%7Ciid%3A1

Although this is listed as being stationed at Vivaise, France, late 1917, in late 1917 Jasta 1 was stationed in Italy. I'm wondering whether anyone can confirm if this set is correct for von Stenglin's aircraft while in Italy?

Many thanks and best regards,
Mark
