Title: What engines are suitable for a Sopwith Pup?
Post by: James Reagan on September 17, 2021, 01:53:36 PM
It's impossuble to find a 1/32 scale le rhone 9c engine kit so an option is to take one from my Wingnut Wings Sopwith Pup kit. What aftermarket 1/32 scale engines are suitable for my WNW Pup kit? Clergent? Gnome Monosopate?   I believe Vector offers some engine kits.  Where is my best source for Vector kits?

A Gnome Monosaupape would be correct.  Or a Clerget 9.  Try Linden Hill Imports.  Looks like they have 2 Gnomes in stock.  If not, try NeOmega-resin.com

The Monosoupape conversion isn't an easy one. The Gnome has a slightly larger diameter and needs a bigger diameter cowl. I vac-formed one for my build

Clerget is a good choice

There's a 9C here: https://www.ondigitalh.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=538389 (https://www.ondigitalh.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=538389)

IIRC Copper State Models also sells separate sprues from their Nieuport kits, some of which also have a Le Rhone 9C. Might try to drop them a message?

I still need to do the same to get a 110HP LeRhone to replace my half-broken resin Special Hobby engine...

New received a reply from copper state models. I sae a resin Le rhone 9C kit offered but postage from Canada was four times the cost of the kit.

The Neomega kits are pretty good: https://www.neomega-resin.com/clerget-9-148th--132nd-396-p.asp (https://www.neomega-resin.com/clerget-9-148th--132nd-396-p.asp)
