I need to win a Roden 1/32 Spad XIII Early kit because it has always been my favorite WW1 airplane. I grew up on my dad’s aviation magazines from the 30s. I loved reading the adventures of Phineas Carbuncle Pinkham and he flew a SPAD.

I'd like to win the Roden SPAD because I want to challenge myself as a modeler. I have never built a Roden kit before. I have been tempted but reviews I have read have always put me off. I'd like to see for myself and really push my model building skills by attempting something that is more than a "shake and bake" type kit. Thanks for this opportunity.

a little explanation: I like engines and have a bit of a theme about that. So I have some Daimler-Benz DB601 aircraft in 1/72 (Bf109F, He111P, Bf110 for example), and S-3A Viking and an A-10 Thunderbolt II (which essentially used the same engines!) and a few more of such combinations on the shelves. :)

What a wonderful initiative Dave! Thank You for running it and a special Thanks to Roden for the generous offer! Roden is quite one of my favourite model companies, they have done an enormous amount for the WW1 modelling community - and produced models of subjects we only dream of! I have ordered a Roden Spad from my LHS - they need the support too! So I will build one - eventually. I would also not like anyone to be saddled with the cost of postage to this far flung corner of the Dark Continent... that can indeed make your eyes water... But Regards and I hope we see a lot of these blogged (or built) on the site.... Marc.

Hi I would like to win a Roden SPAD because I am doing a talk and display that includes a pilot from 23 Squadron and haven’t been able to purchase this one in this country yet. The event is planned for December (maybe Covid delayed) I have a Pup and Albatros on the go but need to get cracking on the Spad. Cheers:D

Hard to believe, isn't it? And I was then still claiming to stick to 72nd scale forever... :)
Time truly flies, and my opinion is that there is no point in building the stash too high...

• I have AMS
• Roden makes kits for modellers with AMS -They’re accurate OOB, but offer plenty of scope for detailing;
• It’s a beautiful canvas for so many different schemes; and
• It’s so much better than the Revell kit.
• It’ll look great next to my Roden Spad VII
