Title: 1/32 vehicles
Post by: kiwin992 on May 07, 2021, 04:51:56 PM
Being a relative 'newbie' to WW1 aviation modelling I find that I am struggling to find 1/32 vehicles etc...I have stumbled across some old Airfix and Pyro kits, and the excellent 1/35 ICM kits but what else is 'out there'?
Apologies if this is not a new subject....

Hi Brian
Roden do a 1914 pattern RR armoured car and a Holt 75 tractor in 1/35 but in truth there is not much out there from the mainstream manufacturers. There are/were some nice resin offerings from the cottage industries but these are formidably expensive - which is fine if this is an area of real interest to you, but if, like me, you just want an occasional vehicle or cart etc as background for an aircraft model, 100GBP+ might be more than you wish to lay out.
I tend to buy old Airfix model T's etc and hack them about with much added plastic card to get something suitable.

If memory serves me correctly Scale Link made some vehicles. Their website is terribly difficult, for me at least, to navigate now. However, there might be something here you might like:

Thanks for the replies, yes, 108pds is a bit much !! I'll stick with the odd Airfix kit which still pop-up regularly on our beloved auction sites and ICM. A couple of old Pyro/Lifelike kits from the 60's have come my way and they are not bad for the era. My hobbies of rail (and air, to a lesser extent) seem beset by the mish-mash of scale/gauge!

Hi - Tommy’s War still do the Crossley tender in 1/32  - £50 currently. These can be made up nicely but probably require some experience with resin kits and need a bit of bashing around. The size difference (including their now OOP thornycroft ) with 1/35 is quite significant so I don’t think they could be combined with this scale, although of course just a personal view. Miniart, ICM both do some great 1/35 scale WW1 soft skins + of course CopperArt armoured cars... but of course all in standard armour scale. Aviattic had a few nice 1/32 kits - not cheap but great nonetheless but again  I think these are oop now. Clearly going against the standard scales for each genre is hard! Cheers Matt

Gone, I'm afraid:

Please note; At the point of writing this I have 3 kits left. They are complete with instructions, decals and photo etch but do not come with the original box. Therefore, I have reduced the price by £10 to reflect this. Once these three kits are sold the kit is out of production.
