This is my new project, a Bristol M.1c. I think this a nice colorful airplane and the aileron is a nice detail. I will not use decals for this one because I want to paint it. First I a need a good plan for airbrushing, in wich sequence, but I have time. And I also need to make the masks.
Some pics of the sprues

Seems like a better base than my 1/48 BlueMax, but I'm glad there's a kit at all.
That is an interesting marking - it will be a demanding paint job! I like also the right replaced aileron.
Cheers,
Frank

That's lovely surface detail!
I might have to get me one of them!
Cheers,

I will follow along closely!

Got the wartime service boxing in the stash, following along with interest.

Looking forward on seeing this one come together :)

Nice choice, Ferry! Looking forward to this one! Regards, Marc.

Looks like fun. Special Hobby has gradually upped their game.

This looks a smashing kit from Special Hobby - that resin wicker seat really does look the bees knees.
Good luck on your build, mate - I shall be watching with great interest.

This is such a nice kit. I have it in my stash, too. I will follow up on this thread.
Bye, Manni

Thanks for following, it's always an extra motivation.
First cuts are made, first things are sanded en glued. Normally I would paint the parts first but this time I tried to gluw
(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/4865/3tPZdR.jpg)
And the aileron pulleys. I drilled 0,3mm holes for the cables.
I see I have to sand a little more.
The fueltank and some small stuff
(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/4996/XZ0QSx.jpg)
The foot rests and the control colomn. I drilled holes 0,3mm through the control colomn for the elevator cables. I also drilled a hloe in de stcontrol colomn and put a rod in in for some more strenght.
I drilled holes in the rudder bar for some turnbuckles. I ordered turnbuckles from Gaspatch but I have no idea when they arrive. I just have to be patient ( or order them sooner ;D )I also placed a rod in the rudder bar for more strenght when glueing it to the foot rests.

First color can be applied and the oil paints can be pulled out the drawer.
Thanks for watching.

Lovely start, this looks like a beautiful kit.

Nice work on all of the drilling for the wires and pins for strength! Looking good!

Thank you.
First I sprayed the parts with gloss black and then Tamiya XF55 Deck tan. When this was dry I toke the burnt umber oilpaint and started painting. I think this is not easiest way to paint when so much parts are assembled. When the oilpaint was applied I took a brush and dipped it in VMS Oil Expert enhancing medium and painted the woodgrain. It is not my finest work but it will do for this model. After two days I could handle the parts and started detail painting. Normally I let the oilpaint dry for min 5 days but the VMS helps drying the oilpaint.

Today my pakkage arrived with the turnbuckles and eyelets. I always thought Gaspatch was een company from the UK but it is a greek. Sorry guys if you are reading this :-[

That seems to be a nice kit. May be not on WNW level, but a lot of details.
You made a good job so far. Let's see whats next.

How long did it take with VMS chemistry?
BTW - I like Your woodgrain very much.

The wood grain looks awesome!

I like the wood effect , very fitting for this airframe !

We got some more work done. I placed decals and several parts
(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/8099/Invhzk.jpg)
I placed two turnbuckles in the rudder bar and made the control lines. The tubes are blackened with Brass black.
All is going wel. At least I thought so. Next was the control column.
Something makes me think that this isn't what it's supposed to be. Reparing isn't an option becuase of the the cable's so I made a new one. The parts
(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/5486/OfVNxv.jpg)
Ready, including the cables.
And placed in yhe cockpit. When you look closely you can see the aileron cables.

Your interior looks Fantastic. Instruments, stick, and control wires are awesome!

Lovely work, I think your new control column is better than the kit part so a happy accident!

Wonderful work. The wood is very realistic and the interior is stunning. Such a beautiful plane. I will watch carefully as I have the same kit in my stash. Just wanderful kit and parts.
Bye Manni

Thanks guys. Lately I haven't been building a lot because of the high temperatures and I bought a new CNC millingmachine wich I had to build en test. That's done so now it's time for some modelling.
I finished the cockpit. There was some rigging needed on th ebottom and the sides.
I only need to paint the seat. The fuselage is painted CDL on the inside and masked.
For the woodwork I used raw sienna. This is a different color then the rest of the cockpit because I want to see the difference and I wanted to do something different.
Thanks for watching

The update was well worth the wait, that's a superb cockpit with very neat rigging.
Richie
-
You must have hired a spider to do the rigging. Incredibly beautiful work.
The woodgrain is outstanding!
Willem

Thanks. I just changed the last pic because I made a mistake.

Moving along nicely!

Hiya, this is coming along great, well done. Probably a bit late, but Alleycat do an upgrade set for this kit. Regards, Pete in RI

Just found this ! The interior detail is something to die for - the wood effect, instruments and rigging are extremely well done.
Stephen.

Excellent work in the 'pit'
I like the tone of wood used.
Nice! 8)

oh wow, that cockpit is something else, beautiful work 8)

As others have said - fantastic cockpit - your wood painting really does look like wood

Thanks.
As I said previously I thought the cockpit was ready. But, how was the engine operated? I needed to place the controls and so I did
(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/9734/jrJazo.jpg)
The seat had some flash in places where there should be holes. I used a real sharp scalpel and tried to remove the flash. Not all the flash is gone but at least there are some holes.
Tima for some paint. I used CDL as a base color, redbrown for the leather and a combination of raw sienna and transparant oxide yellow oil paints and a dark dirt wash from Flory
(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/1506/CnCia9.jpg)
When taking the pics I saw that the cushion needed some more paint. I will touch up when I'm going to place the seat in the cockpit.
I'll use the seatbelts from the kit. I don't know if they are the correct ones but I don't want to buy some AM.
Finaly I painted the wood on the inside of the fuselage and painted the front on the inside grey. I admit that I good have done a better job on the woodwork but it's ok for now. The effect with the cockppit in place is fine.

Your quality of work is amazing - I really like how you paint the wood and the wicker seat which all look incredibly realistic.

Fine work you have going on here, Ferry. This will be a stunner!
-
I agree with all of the above, Great work Ferry!
Willem
-
Superb cockpit Ferry, the seat looks completely real too.
Richie
-
that's looking really rather special
-
Thank you all.
I fitted the seatbelts to the seat and as said I touched up the cushion.
Then the seat could be glued in place.
And so the time for closing the fuselage is here. A quick dryfit
(https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/2839/w2G7ny.jpg)
Yep, that fits. The woodwork in the fuselage gives a nice contrast. I looked at the instructions and it seems that I didn't miss anything so the fuselage could be closed. The advantage of this fuselage is that there are no locating pins. So the fit could be made near perfect :D
After the glue dried I could make some more pics.

A lot of people would say "what a shame you odn't see the cockpit very wel and all the work that went in it. I don't agree with those people. I had a lot of fun building the cockpit and I'm happy with the result. I know it's there and that is the most important thing
Thanks for watching.

What a Shame all of that Detail you added can't be seen, ;D Your final details looked excellent and it is great to see the fuselage all closed up. Excellent work and progress!
