Hi all,
This ‘Special Hobby’ (Kit No:SH32064) model represents a Fokker D.II, serial number not known, attached to ‘Kampfeinsitzer Stafflen’ (Kesta) 4b sometime between April 1917 - October 1918 at Royal Bavarian AF, Freiburg.

The basic forum build log can be found here:

https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=11971.0

As usual a fully detailed build log, in Adobe PDF format, can be viewed or downloaded from my site (linked in my signature block below).
Many thanks, as always, for your kind comments and encouragement throughout this build.

Mike

Very nice, but did the D.II ever have streaked camo?
Anyway, here's my 1:72 Merlin kit after substantial corrections. Not the least of which was the total re profiling of the fuselage and scratchbuilt almost everything else.

I hope you like her! She came with her sister, the D.I which was just as much work!

Amazing DII Ian. Anyone who can turn a Merlin kit into an Aircraft is an incredible Modeler for sure!

I remember your build log of the two Fokkers Ian, wonderful work.
Kudos to the late Merlin Models for their invaluable contribution to the scratch building skills of so many fine modellers... ;D

Hi Ian,
That's a nice model and quite challenging I imagine.
As to Fokker D.II streaking.
Hardly any of these aircraft fell into the hands of the Allies, so interpretation of colour schemes had to be taken from photographs.
Certainly later versions, such as the D.IV, did have streaked camouflage on the fuselage.
I didn't find any evidence of this being applied to D.II's and they seem to have been predominately either plain CDL or painted green/brown camouflage.
That said profile artists and kit manufacturers show streaking applied.
But then both have been proved wrong in the past, so it's anyone's guess,

Mike
